I don’t know a lot about my ancestry, but I know that my father’s side of the family was descended from the English and one of my mother’s ancestors was a Cherokee that was on the trail of tears.

My DNA test said 1% Northern African. That makes me a black man and therefore a POC. Also 1% South East Asian.

Really though, my father's side is mostly Irish. My mother's said I'm not sure... German perhaps. Some Danish. I'm mainly a mutt scattered all over Western Europe. Always suspect I might have some Ashkenazi Jew, but so far, no results. I used to be accused of being a Jew when I was younger and received hate for it (even from neo-Nazis). Now people tend to think I'm Italian or something... lol. Even though my DNA test said like 2% Italian. I do feel like I do have more Mediterranean features. Despite being mostly northwestern European. None of my parents or family quite have my features.

Several years ago, my sister did an Ancestry DNA test. IIRC, her results came back 98% central and eastern European, 1% southern European (Greece and Italy,) and <1% middle Eastern (I have no idea where that came from.) Unless my parents were keeping a secret from me, I'd expect my results would be the same. But it fits the story that I'd always heard about my paternal great grandfather. Who was Ukrainian, from the Odessa region. He emigrated to the US as a teenager. Supposedly, because he was going to be drafted into the Russian army, and didn't want to serve under the Czar. Which was probably smart. I doubt that conditions back then for an ordinary foot soldier in the Russian military were very good. That was >100 years ago, and the Ukraine and Russia still don't get along. But AFAIK, there is no one notable among my ancestors. Only a draft dodger.

Mostly Irish on both sides. Although there's a mix between Irish Setter and Irish Wolfhound.

People in North Africa are usually not black, though.

I've got German, Irish, Welsh, and maybe Native American (Shawnee).

The Native American part may or may not be accurate, I'll never know for sure (I've no plans to give my DNA to anyone). It's what my paternal grandfather said was the case (and he did look the part), and my dad and his brother both seemed to be on board with it. However, a relative's friend reportedly looked into the ancestry a while ago (not sure by what method) and didn't find any Native Americans in the mix.

So, not certain enough to record it on any official documentation if asked, but there's enough there to make it at least a possibility, which I personally think is pretty awesome.
