I don't know. He said he's leaving without a "net" so I'm assuming that means without another job lined up?

Chris Wallace Net Worth

His little net is 25,000,000 and whatever salary above 7 million a year CNN offered to get him.

I think it is a desperation move on CNN's part because they are failing so miserably

"But the darkness on the edge of town has spread to the main roads and highways and neighborhoods. It is now at the local bar, and the bowling alley, the school board, and the grocery store. And it must be acknowledged and answered for.

Grown men and women who swore an oath to our Constitution, elected by their constituents, possessing the kinds of college degrees I could only dream of, have decided to join the mob and become something they are not while hoping we somehow forget who they were.

They’ve decided to burn it all down with us inside. That should scare you to no end as much as it scares an aging volunteer fireman.
...
The reality is though, I will wake up tomorrow in the America of the year 2021, a nation unrecognizable to those who came before us and fought to protect it, which is what you must do now. My colleagues will take it from here."

Right on point.

America (and the rest of the free world) is becoming unrecognizable, and a sizable portion of our citizenry appears to be oblivious.

Indeed. I retired in 2017 and never regretted it. Anyone can retire at 62. Do it!
You still don’t get Medicare until 65, though, right?
Those three years of insurance premiums keep most folk working, since the industry knows that folks need it (sometimes badly) and won’t be able to gouge as deep when their customers turn 65.

Yes, if we were talking about Social Security retirement benefits, but not Medicare. For the latter, unless you're disabled or there is some other, very special medical situation, it's at age 65.

Isn’t this on the President’s agenda, the lowering of the age when persons can receive Medicare benefits?

Maybe he was suffering from PTSD from his imaginary encounter where he came under gun fire in a war zone.
Yes, there's certainly nothing as hilarious as significant mental health trauma.

Yes, I know his story.
Yes I still think it's inappropriate to joke about it. Sorry if that makes me a Deborah Downer.

Well, the guy has earned millions for years now - how much of a net does he need? Anchors are very well paid.

Perhaps the newscasters' union provides health care benefits?

This is the only clip I've seen, and it's a bit cryptic. But I think he's talking about the division in America "coming to our neighborhoods and bars" and it's relevant to his decision to leave because he views the media as fueling that division?

'America is Being Burned down with Us Inside' WOW! MSNBC's Brian Williams Quits Live!

I agree with his statement...

"I'm not a liberal or a conservative. I'm an institutionalist. I believe in this place and in my love of country. I yield to no one. But the darkness on the edge of town has spread to main roads." Williams said. "Grown men and women who swore an oath to our constitution, elected by their constituents … have decided to join the mob and become something they are not."

"That should scare you to no end,"
