Recently Joe Biden just recently mandated ALL Federal employees, and those that contract through the federal govt, be vaccinated.

I didn't know how to quite label this topic, as it kind of drums up many thoughts.

Sweeping new vaccine mandates for 100 million Americans

There were comments regarding how they had co-workers swear up and down that they'd resign if this ever came to their workplace, some claimed they were just bluffing, because well....food on the table reasons n' stuff.

But someone commented on how someone did actually resigned, but a response was, "Boy I bet she feels like a food now!"

What's sad is, even nurses are quitting. This demonstrates a character how they were never really passionate about their career, and it was just a job to them more so than a career if you think about it.

Something I read on response to the article, sarcasm included:

Some people are crazy enough to do. I saw someobody saying that he plans to live [leave] his job because of it, he also mentioned that it also shows his children that is important to stand up for things you believe.

I admire his courage, I would not be able to risk my livelihood and by extension my child's well being over something I read on a Facebook.

Not worth it. I'd have to first go get a job.

Well, he just wrote an executive order mandating all employers with more than 100 employees must have them get vaccinated or be tested by using OSHA regulations so....good question. Thankfully I am an independent contractor and the company I am contracted with does not have over 100 employees.

My employer has mandated vaccinations for anyone (staff, contractors, visitors) coming on-site. Rather than quitting, I am fully in support of the policy.

If others choose to quit over it, that's their prerogative. I won't lose any sleep over it though.

It's only a matter of time though.

I always find it odd that people bring belief in this, as though the SARS-CoV-2 virus somehow cares about what they believe (spoiler alert: the virus doesn't care).

Yep, this will likely be a slow burn, and they'll have to come to accept the situation.

I would say at the very most they'd get stuck in low paying jobs at big box stores or po-dunk warehouses or be content on serving tables for privately owned restaurants until the age of 80 or whenever they may die.

Perhaps these will be the future ditch diggers of America even? Perhaps these anti-vaxx americans will take up jobs that never wanted to apple/orange/tobacco harvesters Who knows. At least they'll be outdoors in well-ventilated areas.

I am not able to work because one of our major clients requires all contractors who come on site to be vaccinated. My wife is now no longer working because her employer has mandated that everyone be vaccinated, despite the fact that she has been working from home for months and is not coming into contact with anyone. My daughter has just graduated Police academy but has been put on leave because it has now been mandated that all police be vaccinated. They don't want to lose her because they are struggling to get recruites and she is exactly the sort of person they want on the force, but the order has come down from higher ups who are only concerned about their own careers.
Yes, we are willing to lose our jobs over this. Mandating an experimental drug is evil and directly violates the Nuremburg Code.

There is the option for people to do a weekly COVID test but some people are saying a lot of employers won’t want to spend the $$ on the tests. Most of the hotel and food service workers that I’ve heard from so far are happy about it. I work on a staff of 12 and we are all vaccinated already.

No, I wouldn't. I'm vaccinated already, it would be silly to.

This is absolutely a raw deal for those with pre-existing conditions that either shouldn't get vaccinated, or don't know if they should yet - the people the rest of us should get vaccinated to help protect. Get weekly tests, or get fired. Not right.

The alternative is greater risk of transmission of the virus and more dead people. Which is a much worse deal than having to get tested, imho.

My employer is covering costs for people in the process of being vaccinated (e.g. they've had one dose) or people with legitimate exceptions. Otherwise people who choose to not vaccinate are on their own.

This is not an experimental drug and requiring mandatory vaccinations does not violate the Nuremburg Code. This is just more false anti-vax propaganda.

And the type of thing which is precisely why mandatory vaccinations are required. Your refusal to be vaccinated puts everyone else at risk. Therefore, you'll have to deal with the consequences of such.

No, it does not mean they were not passionate about their career.

I will relay the situation for some I know at a local care center, several of which have quit since President Biden initially indicated he would be requiring vaccination for employees of nursing care facilities who treat medicare and medicaid enrollees. These were, by and large, people who were exposed to the virus taking care of the residents before there ever was a vaccine. Some of them joined specifically to help during the pandemic. So the notion that the ones willing to work on the front lines without the availability of a vaccine are not dedicated does not follow. They wouldn't still be there to quit if that was the case.

Because of the nature of the mandate for health care workers, pulling financial strings, so far it has been up to the facilities themselves to craft policy. And those who enacted policies following the announcement did so without waiting for the actual wording of the regulatory action. This can result in poorly thought out policies that are more about convenience of the center than the good of the patients or the staff.

In the local situation one of the care centers is not even making exceptions for legitimate health issues that their doctor have indicated would prevent them. This could probably be challenged eventually in court, but they need to eat in the meantime so they are taking different jobs. Ironically, these are the people that vaccine mandates were supposed to protect, because they couldn't get the vaccine.

Now if you want to say in a nursing situation it has to be that way to protect others, I can see how that argument could be made. But it has nothing to do with them not caring. They were taking on greater risk in their job already.

Another group object to having to take on additional risk for smaller benefit when they already have natural immunity from helping during an outbreak. Recent studies indicate natural immunity to be lasting and more effective against Delta than vaccination. So why should they be compelled to take on small, but real, risk when they already have greater immunity than those receiving the vaccinations?

They should at the least make exemptions for those who can demonstrate prior infection and antibodies. As it is there is already a worker shortage in these fields, and this will make it worse, ultimately hurting the residents it is supposed to protect.

His action today appears to be at least partly in response to lobbying groups who represent care centers who indicated that if he only mandated it in one part of the medical field--care centers--it would mean that they would have an impossible staffing situation. So now it has been extended to others parts of the medical sector so that people leaving one don't go to another segment.

I am against mandatory vaccinations but it is not against the Nuremburg code. Even if it did no country has adopted the Nuremburg code as law. The vaccine is not an experimental drug. It has gone through the same testing as other vaccines.

That's very informative, and does shed light on things. Although, I did read about natural immunity, and I think it's been proven that previous infections are not really substantial enough to provide the full brunt of immunity necessary to fight off the variants. However, there are reports that prior vaccination, PLUS the vaccine, perhaps even only 1 vaccine...garners are robust immune response.

Although, you have to risk getting Covid (they ignored the previous precautionary measures and risked getting infected...and if surviving, could suffer long term implications), in order to get the half-arsed natural immunity actually. This isn't condoned, but just happen stance, someone was foolishly taking a risk here back in 2020 by not following masking recommendations and still hitting large crowds.

A weekly test seems easy enough. I’ve already had workers coming to me about not wanting to work next to an unvaccinated person who was granted a religious exemption. They’d feel a lot safer if that person had to have a weekly test. Is there something I’m missing? Although I thought there was a medical exemption but maybe not.
