  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Your response here
By loving our neighbor. Did you want a fuller answer, such as loving our neighbor and throwing off the works of darkness?
So how do we love our neighbor according to Romans 13:8-10?

Please remember, these are "bare bones" answers without explanations :)

No, do you still keep the old covenant laws of the Levitical Priesthood, the earthly Sanctuary service, the laws for sin offerings and animal sacrifices of which the 613 are a part of?
Yes.

If not why not?

Now also, if you agree that if we break anyone of Gods' 10 commandments than why break Gods' 4th commandment which is one of God's 10 commandment that the scriptures shown earlier from James, Paul and John give us the knowledge of what sin is when we break them *Romans 7:7; James 2:10-11; 1 John 3:4 and if we knowingly continue to break them will put us in danger of the judgement according to Paul in Hebrews 10:26-31?
This question can be understood more than one way.

I'm taking it this way "...then why {do you, Leaf473} break the 4th commandment..."

The response to that question is I do not break it.

Can you spiritually not steal from someone while physically stealing from someone?
No.

I think if you consider your arguments here and the scriptures beings shared with you, perhaps you will see your views might need changing. I believe God is calling you home to his Word.

Hope this is helpful.

Yes.

No.

So you go out and make animal sacrifices every time you sin you go out get your lamb, and find a Levite Priest with an earthly Temple and make sin offerings? I find that just as easy to believe as your claim that you follow Gods' 4th commandment according to Exodus 20:8-11. You do know these are all part of the 613 right and the laws for remission of sins are now fulfilled in Jesus who is the body of Christ (Colossians 2:17)

By not owing other people things, and by not harming other people.
The question was.. How do we love our neighbor according to Romans 13:8-10? If you want to have another go. The answer to the question is in the scripture and also in Matthew 22:36-40. Take your time to think about it. I have to go out for now.

Happy Sabbath!

I think I may have answered something similar to this already. Perhaps this is an edited version of a post I have already responded to?

Thank you for your offer of having "another go".

But my answer is the same:
By not owing other people things, and by not harming other people.

Peace be with you.

I sure hope you aren't going to Church on Saturday.

Exodus 16:29 (NIV)
29 Bear in mind that the LORD has given you the Sabbath; that is why on the sixth day he gives you bread for two days. Everyone is to stay where he is on the seventh day; no one is to go out."

Exodus 20:10 (NIV)
10 but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your manservant or maidservant, nor your animals, nor the alien within your gates.

Now you can read that any way you want, but nowhere does is say Saturday is the sabbath, yes it was for the Jews, that's the day they picked. Most of us Protestants and Catholics picked Sunday, but we are all sinning because we drive to church on our sabbath (day of rest).

Notice in 20:10 is says A sabbath day. Now what calendar was used during the writing of Exodus? The idea of a sabbath day is a day we set aside to worship, rest, and seek the Lords guidance.

Then you would be wrong but here let's show why from the scriptures. The answer to the question was in the scripture provided.

Let's look at it here...

Romans 13:8-10
[8], Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loves another has fulfilled the law. [9], For this, You shall not commit adultery, You shall not kill, You shall not steal, You shall not bear false witness, You shall not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly summed up in this saying, namely, You shall love your neighbor as yourself.
[10], Love works no ill to his neighbor: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.

Love is expressed through obedience to God's law not by breaking Gods' Law. (see also Matthew 22:36-40; James 2:8-12; 1 John 5:2-3)

Do you love Jesus Leaf? I believe you do (if you do see John 14:15)

Hope this is helpful.

Here is the same scripture you posted that uses better verbiage (KJV)
Exodus 20:10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:

God told us to keep the Sabbath Holy. 8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Even states this way in the version you use

NIV 8 “Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. This is a commandment to US.

Honestly all you have to do is read the 170+ verses in the Bible about God’s Sabbath to know that it is God’s special day and why He asked us to REMEMBER. It’s a shame how so many people turn a blind eye to what is so obvious.

God bless and Happy Sabbath!

God's Law: Jn 15:9 “As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. 10 If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love. 11 I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. 12 My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. 13 Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.

Father's commands = All of the laws of the old covenant that were given only to Israel till Jesus came.
Jesus' command = Love others as I have loved you. Given to all mankind for all eternity.

I know I belong to the TRUTH if I believe in Jesus and love others as Jesus commanded. 1Jn3:19-24 no ritual strings attached.

No Imge, God did not tell US to keep the Sabbath Holy, He told that to Israel. He didn't tell that to any other nation. You are not telling the truth.

Happy Sabbath my friend. May the Lord our God bless us all to the uttermost in His Son Jesus Christ.

We emphasized in bold the word translated Sabbath. The light blue emphasis is הַ and is pronounced ha in Hebrew. It is equivalent to our English word the. So we see the the Hebrew concurs with what you shared in respect to the KJV. Praise God for His truth and shame on the translators of the NIV. But then again no translation is 100% accurate. Father forgive us we know not what we do.

Jesus said the Sabbath was made for man= all = you and me. Mark 2:27 so your argument is with Jesus, not me.

Is it a sin to murder or is that okay for everyone except Jews? What about taking God's name in vain- are you free to do that as well?

I would consider praying about who is spreading the falsehood here, there is some strong warnings in the Bible about those who teach others to break any of God's commandments.
