  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What? And 200 years you say? Oh well, how’d I miss that… guess it’s back to the drawing board, or back to discussing Schrodinger’s Cat with those other guys.
You're right, it's over. The world was not entirely covered with water in the 3rd millennium BC.

God works in mysterious ways, doesn't He?

You know, falling back on that argument is spectacularly unconvincing.

And here we go again.

I'm not going to explain the snapping of His fingers with you again, until I see a light bulb come on.

For some reason, you think snapping them out of existence would be preferable to a flood; and I've explained this to you more than once.

Of course, the Flood was an act of mercy, so I guess it would be hard for some to understand.

Their diplomas get in the way.

You seem to think that just because I don't agree with your argument I don't understand it.

However, I do understand it.

You think God needed to use the flood to see which people would repent of their sins so they could be saved. However, as I have explained already, God, being all knowing, would know exactly who would repent, and so he wouldn't need to put them through the test. And yet, despite me having explained this to you, you still claim that God needed to run the test.

It seems that I'm not the one who needs the lightbulb moment.

Credit where credit is due.

It's an explanation that means nothing. It tells us absolutely nothing about the way the universe works. It's just convenient handwavium so you can ignore any problems with your claims.

Agreed.
Noah was anxious to get off the Ark as quickly as possible. Looking for dry land.

"After forty days Noah opened the window he had made in the ark and sent out a raven. It kept flying back and forth until the waters had dried up from the earth"

Perhaps the Ark was taking on water or maybe even starting to become structurally unstable. BUT....such reasonable speculations still don't invalidate or falsify what actually IS in the text.

I knew you'd do this. You dismiss reality. There is no way that a wooden vessel of that size would have survived. The ark story doesn't work, yet you deliberately set up rules that allow you to ignore reality.

You have no interest in an actual discussion about the plausibility of the flood story.

As has been pointed out to you, "Schrodinger's Cat" does not mean that anything is possible. In fact it is all about defining what is possible. As to the "Ark" and 200 years, the people who determined that it was implausible where Christians looking for evidence of a global flood, you are entitleled to your beliefs, but don't pretend they are relevant to the science of the last "200 years" without a lot more than you have prestented.

Thank you for demonstrating that you don't.

It's that potent, huh?

That's science's job.

Handwavium?
Not familiar with that element.
What's its atomic number?

You're holding up two.

Or are you making the peace sign?
I'm right handed. I had to crop the piccie it to keep it decent. You'll just have to use your imagination when you try to convince me that the flood actually happened.

I guess my thinking is if God was going to do it all, why would He even bother to put us here?

He put us here to gather a people unto himself. Those who choose him will live on the new world. This current world will pass away by fire once the full number are in.
2 Peter 3
3 First of all, I want you to know that in the last days men will laugh at the truth. They will follow their own sinful desires. 4 They will say, “He promised to come again. Where is He? Since our early fathers died, everything is the same from the beginning of the world.” 5 But they want to forget that God spoke and the heavens were made long ago. The earth was made out of water and water was all around it. 6 Long ago the earth was covered with water and it was destroyed. 7 But the heaven we see now and the earth we live on now have been kept by His word. They will be kept until they are to be destroyed by fire. They will be kept until the day men stand before God and sinners will be destroyed.
