  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

You have to keep in mind that Jesus was the Passover at the day of Passover, and the feast of unleavened bread is the next High Holy Sabbath day. So he had to rise before sundown Saturday. Because the evening would bring in Sunday a High feast day. The beginning of a new day. Remember the next day starts at evening.

No He didn't have to rise on the Sabbath. The 14th was Pesakh, a Friday that year (the day the lambs were killed), the 15th was the weekly Sabbath as well as a high day (the 1st of unleavened), and Sunday was Yom HaBikkurim, when the firstfruits of barley were waved. He fulfilled all 3 days...

First Jesus had to be in the grave three days and three nights. Second, remember there were Roman guards there on each side of the rolling stone door, I believe. So they couldn't get to Jesus any way. An angel had to come and roll the stone door back so they can see Jesus was already gone. Being that this is Jesus the son of God of course his body is not going to decay, in three days and three nights.

The Scriptures say that His body would not see decay, not that His body couldn't decay--that is Aphthartodocetism, a heresy.

When the women went to the tomb early on the first day of the week before sunrise, they already knew a stone closed the tomb and guards were there. That wasn't a problem. So that's a nothing argument.

All you have is your insistence that three days and three nights has to mean what you want it to mean, rather than what the Bible itself says it means. The Bible itself says it means that Jesus was crucified on the day before the Sabbath, was in the tomb throughout the Sabbath, and that He rose early on the first day of the week before the women arrived.

You aren't even grasping at straws here, there aren't even straws to be grasped at.

For example Sundown today is around 7:00 p.m. and Morning time is around 6:30 a.m. or so. So that's about 11hrs Jesus been gone, before Saturday Sundown. Subtract a couple hrs or hour and it would be still dark, when Mary came.
Is this correct?

Your version of the death and resurrection has five days listed.

Day 1
M 27:59-60 (Wednesday, preparation day) And Joseph took the body and wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, and laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn out in the rock; and he rolled a large stone against the entrance of the tomb and went away.

Day 2
M 27:62 (Thursday, high Sabbath day)
Now on the next day, the day after the preparation, the chief priests and the Pharisees gathered together with Pilate.

Day 3 (Another preparation day)
???

Day 4 (Sabbath day)
???

Day 5
M 28:1 (First day) Now after the Sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to look at the grave.

Like I said before that's your choice to serve another God
you should probably have a look over the forum rules before you make accusations like these. not to mention all this post is doing is attempting to discredit through unsubstantiated accusations and it isn't actually engaging my post. this is called an ad hominem attack. Why don't I just turn around and say the same you said to me back to you? because it's insulting, juvenile and accomplishes nothing to the conversation.

(Jonas 1:17)

sure you have, but don't let facts get in the way of a good fantasy.

It's not like you could ever be wrong :sigh:

If this is was base on you getting something you really really wanted or needed, believe me it would become so simple. This a form of love what I'm doing here, but you are taking it with another spirit that you shouldn't. You looking at this whole thing with the wrong spirit. If you can't see this now, or maybe later down the line, you will be thanking God of what I'm doing. You have to have the right spirit on you to deal with word of God, because the world is contrary to the word of God. This is why Jesus second coming is a worldwide destruction.

Pay attention to Jesus saying here...Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. And a man's foes shall be they of his own household. He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me. He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it. (Matthew 10: 34-39).

When you get tired of doing thing that's not written in the Bible nor did Jesus, the prophets and apostles did, then you will see a different spirit within you. Then you will attempt talk to your love ones and they will be against you, why? Because Jesus says this will happen. But some time one or two loves will hear.

Jesus told His disciples repeatedly that He would rise "on the third day". That is not possible if He was buried for 3 days and 3 nights.

The guards were still there when the women went to the tomb.

Even if true, the women didn't know that.

Start back at the beginning of Jesus words in (Matthew 12:38) Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying, Master, we would see a sign from thee. 39 But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas: 40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

Now remember God's days start at evening and end the next evening.
So Jesus would Have been in the Grave Wednesday night, Thursday daytime and Thursday night, Friday daytime, Friday night, Saturday daytime and Jesus rose right before the sun went down on Saturday. Hence one has the 3 days and 3 nights which Jesus prophesied.

His death Wednesday night is consistent with the comment of the prophet Daniel, stating the Messiah would be cut off (killed) in the midst of the week.

Daniel 9:26-27 26 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined. 27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week (Wednesday is the middle of the week) he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, (Remember, Jesus is the sacrificial Passover Lamb).

Jesus gave us a sign, he didn't put in order. Stop trying to put it in order as you read Jesus saying it. The event didn't happen in the order Jesus is saying it. Now from the prophet Daniel we see Jesus died in the midst (Middle) of the week, so the night came first, then follow by the daytime.

(Jonas 1:17)

So this is now vain what the Son of God (Jesus) is saying right here?

Now take what Jesus says here, with what the Evangelists write.

The Evangelists tells us what Jesus meant, because they record His death, burial, and resurrection. And they tell us when these things happened.

On the day of preparation of the weekly Sabbath Jesus was crucified and was buried. That's what the Bible says.

And the women came early on the first day of the week, before sunrise, and found His tomb empty. That's what the Bible says.

On the road to Emmaus, on the first day of the week, we are told that it is the third day.

Friday - first day.
Saturday - second day.
Sunday - third day.

Otherwise rising on the third day is a lie.

Your understanding of three days and three nights requires a denial of everything else the Bible says about Jesus' death and resurrection.

So who should I believe you, or what the Bible very plainly says and what Christians have always believed?

Because I think I'm going to have to stick to the Bible and two thousand years of Christian teaching.

Why is your interpretation of three days and three nights superior to the Evangelist's interpretation, and clearly Jesus' interpretation as He's the One who died, and then rose on the third day.

On the third day.

On the third day.

Jesus rose on the third day.

Start back at the beginning of Jesus words to prepare His disciples for what was to come.

Matthew 16:21

From that time Jesus began to show his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and on the third day be raised.

Matthew 17:22

As they were gathering in Galilee, Jesus said to them, “The Son of man is to be delivered into the hands of men, and they will kill him, and he will be raised on the third day.” And they were greatly distressed.

Matthew 20:18-19

“Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man will be delivered to the chief priests and scribes, and they will condemn him to death, and deliver him to the Gentiles to be mocked and scourged and crucified, and he will be raised on the third day.”

Luke 9:21-22

But he charged and commanded them to tell this to no one, saying, “The Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and on the third day be raised.”

How did the Pharisees interpret what Jesus said in Matthew 12:40?

Matthew 27:62-64

Next day, that is, after the day of Preparation, the chief priests and the Pharisees gathered before Pilate and said, “Sir, we remember how that imposter said, while he was still alive, ‘After three days I will rise again.’ Therefore order the sepulchre to be made secure until the third day, lest his disciples go and steal him away, and tell the people, ‘He has risen from the dead,’ and the last fraud will be worse than the first.”

What else do the Scriptures say?

Luke 24:4-7

While they were perplexed about this, behold, two men stood by them in dazzling apparel; and as they were frightened and bowed their faces to the ground, the men said to them, “Why do you seek the living among the dead? Remember how he told you, while he was still in Galilee, that the Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and on the third day rise.”

Luke 24 15-27

While they were talking and discussing together, Jesus himself drew near and went with them. But their eyes were kept from recognizing him. And he said to them, “What is this conversation which you are holding with each other as you walk?” And they stood still, looking sad. Then one of them, named Cle′opas, answered him, “Are you the only visitor to Jerusalem who does not know the things that have happened there in these days?” And he said to them, “What things?” And they said to him, “Concerning Jesus of Nazareth, who was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people, and how our chief priests and rulers delivered him up to be condemned to death, and crucified him. But we had hoped that he was the one to redeem Israel. Yes, and besides all this, it is now the third day since this happened. Moreover, some women of our company amazed us. They were at the tomb early in the morning and did not find his body; and they came back saying that they had even seen a vision of angels, who said that he was alive. Some of those who were with us went to the tomb, and found it just as the women had said; but him they did not see.” And he said to them, “O foolish men, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken! Was it not necessary that the Christ should suffer these things and enter into his glory?” And beginning with Moses and all the prophets, he interpreted to them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.

Luke 24:44-47

Then he said to them, “These are my words which I spoke to you, while I was still with you, that everything written about me in the law of Moses and the prophets and the psalms must be fulfilled.” Then he opened their minds to understand the scriptures, and said to them, “Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and on the third day rise from the dead, and that repentance and forgiveness of sins should be preached in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem.

Acts 10:39-41

And we are witnesses to all that he did both in the country of the Jews and in Jerusalem. They put him to death by hanging him on a tree; but God raised him on the third day and made him manifest; not to all the people but to us who were chosen by God as witnesses, who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead

1 Corinthians 15:3-5

For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve.

No, Jesus rose Saturday just before sundown. Saturday was the passover, Sunday was the feast of unleavened bread. Jesus was gone when it still dark when Mary came. God's days start at evening and end the next evening.

For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve.

At the beginning of this lesson, it was explained in Leviticus (23:4) that the Passover which is the 14th of the month, is the day before the feast of Unleavened Bread, which is a Holy Day or A High Sabbath. The Passover is sometimes referred as the preparation day because they used this day to prepare for the feast. The Feast of Unleavened Bread is the Sabbath which was being refereed to in Mark 15:42) when it was stated that Joseph craved the body of Jesus. Jesus had been crucified on the Passover and the next day was the Feast of Unleavened Bread. Jesus foretold when His death would occur.

(Matthew 26:1) And it came to pass, when Jesus had finished all these sayings, he said unto his disciples, (2) Ye know that after two days is the feast of the passover, and the Son of man is betrayed to be crucified.

Now remember God's days start at evening and end the next evening. Keep that in mind as you view the next set of scriptures. Jesus had been betrayed by Judas the evening of the Passover. John 13 tells how Jesus and His disciples, that evening, were sharing the Passover meal. John (18:3) shows that same evening; Jesus was betrayed and taken away. It was still nighttime when they took Jesus, because the men that came and took and bound Him had lanterns and torches.

Jesus was crucified the next day but it was still the Passover. Remember God's days run from sundown to sundown. Jesus had been taken into custody the night of the Passover and the next morning which is the day of the Passover, He was condemned and crucified.

The following verses deomonstrate how Pilate was willing to release Jesus the morning after he had been taken in to custody. It was still the Passover. We all know the Jews refused and Jesus was crucified.

Remember Mark (15:42) Joseph craved the body of Jesus the evening of the Passover. Now one can see that this was towards the end of the Passover.

In looking at the previous scriptures one should now have a better understanding, as to what took place. Remember Mary did not come to the Grave site until the first day of the week which is Sunday, when it was yet dark. (John 20:1) "The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulcher", And it was early in the morning and it was still dark. But Jesus had already risen. That's because Jesus went into His grave right before the end of the Passover or Wed. evening. The passing of the Passover brought in the Feast of the Unleavened Bread.

Without accompanying repentance, you words are empty, or rather full of an entirely different spirit.

And yet you can't get three days and three night from Good Friday to Sunday Morning. You have to have both and this is from Jesus mouth, three days and three nights. His death Wednesday night is consistent with the comment of the prophet Daniel, stating the Messiah would be cut off (killed) in the midst of the week. Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken:(Luke 24:25).

Where's the nights? You can't be just focus on the three days and not the nights. You have to have both. You have to know what day to start your count. Jesus didn't rise Sunday night nor Sunday morning. God's days start at evening and end the next evening. Keep that in mind as you view the next set of scriptures. Remember Mary did not come to the Grave site until the first day of the week which is Sunday, when it was yet. (John 20:1) "The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulcher", And it was early in the morning and it was still dark. But Jesus had already risen. Jesus rose Saturday before Sundown.

No, Jesus rose Saturday just before sundown. Saturday was the passover,
You contradict the Mark's Gospel.

Mark 16:9

Now when he rose early on the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Mag′dalene, from whom he had cast out seven demons.

No, Jesus rose Saturday just before sundown. Saturday was the passover, Sunday was the feast of unleavened bread. Jesus was gone when it still dark when Mary came. God's days start at evening and end the next evening.
The death and resurrection account given in John's Gospel only specifies three days.

Here are the three days.

John 19:42
Therefore because of the Jewish day of preparation, since the tomb was nearby, they laid Jesus there.

John 19:31
Then the Jews, because it was the day of preparation, so that the bodies would not remain on the cross on the Sabbath for that Sabbath was a high day.

John 20:20
Now on the first day of the week Mary Magdalene came early to the tomb, while it was still dark, and saw the stone already taken away from the tomb.

The onus is upon you to provide the evidence from John's Gospel to support a five day account.

At the beginning of this lesson, it was explained in Leviticus (23:4) that the Passover which is the 14th of the month, is the day before the feast of Unleavened Bread, which is a Holy Day or A High Sabbath.

Um YOU just said: "No, Jesus rose Saturday just before sundown. Saturday was the passover, Sunday was the feast of unleavened bread. Jesus was gone when it still dark when Mary came." ?????? You said he was crucified on Passover and you have Him rising on passover??? Get your story straight!:doh::doh:
