Yes it does... Self interest.

I'm pretty sure that your will and mine are not aligned in our goals and intents based on many interactions we've had and other posts of yours I've read.

Mankind's prime instinct is self interest. Character can be many branches of the same tree.

That doesn't put any of the gods as the opposite, though.
It does when their will is not focused on self interest, for instance loving all as self rather than seeking gain at the expense of others. Jesus Himself represented a counter-culture to mankind. Followers were called haters of man by the Romans because they deemed the traditional ways of man to be backwards.

ahh, jesus-the-hippie talk. I haven't heard that in a while...

It really makes me wonder why non-Christians some times say that they think Jesus was a great philosopher or teacher. I just don't get it. His non-supernatural ideas weren't all that great: "turn the other cheek" "think not for tomorrow" not good advice.

Not in a dog eat dog world of man, but was well received by the victims of that oppression.

GOD had already given us the best of moral virtues...nothing else to add. His great world changing message: Before Abraham was, I AM.

The oppressed should be encouraged to rise up. The enslaved to flee. Etc.

You can't overcome the ways of man by acting in the same ways. Fools have been trying that method of resolution for thousands of years but nothing has been resolved for that very reason. Dirt doesn't remove dirt.

So you recommend submission to opressors? (I don't.)

You do it every day whether you admit it or not.

I just **love** how you'se guys keep telling me things that I believe and know and do without even knowing me.

Would you care to justify your claim with a specific about *me*?

You know, that is rather an anarchistic perspective. Perhaps you do know. But if you do not get who Jesus is, that he had followers, you can be answered that Jesus was subversive to the system of oppressors in place at that time. His way, which his teaching showed, was totally contrary to the way of that oppressive system, and so it was critical of it. So then his followers later were judged for their contrary way to the system of the empire then.

Nietzsche called it the 'slave morality' - I think he found "turn the other cheek" to be a little too meek. Of course, that didn't last long once Christianity caught on...

Turning the other cheek is just a part and not nearly all of the message from Jesus, it was metaphorical in describing an approach to accommodate others in keeping peace rather than just starting with a response more hostile. Being peacemakers was important in the message from Jesus, along with acting with love and compassion and mercy, obedience to godly things, and trusting in biblical promises with following him.

Didn't take them long to get off the narrow path did it.

Christianity in its form in modern times is not just the same thing as Christianity came to be with those who followed Jesus from the start. It has changed a lot..
