Per the thread topic, it sounds like some people dying of it themselves still don't believe it.
OH I was reading as people are dying from it and people are not believing that ( when in fact one can in fact know it is real know people are dying from it and still not believe that it is bad as they are letting on. Ironic that in some cases ( like me) they are using those same numbers to reach that conclusion.

Singapore is also doing quite well, despite having open borders and being a transit hub for international travel and trade. Currently sitting at 63 cases total, with none critical and no new cases for one week.

Singapore....the city-state.

How's Monaco and Vatican city doing?

If you watch the interview, the nurse talks about people infected with COVID-19, in hospital and literally dying, but still refusing to accept the cause is COVID-19.

Which isn't evidence of anything.

Of course, pointing to them as an example of "how to do it right" doesn't mean anything if you're not willing to do what they did.

Insofar as Asian countries go, they seem to have a very different cultural attitude towards social responsibility, as well as just wearing PPE.

It's evidence of exactly what it is: that some people dying of COVID-19 refuse to believe that it's COVID-19.

I watched the interview....she described people in denial of dying.

The CNN reporter suggested they were in denial of Covid.

Here the thing...

"I can't believe I'm dying of Covid!" Doesn't mean someone doesn't believe in Covid. It doesn't even mean they don't believe they're dying.

It's the same as someone getting shot on the street and saying "I can't believe I got shot!" Or "I can't believe I'm bleeding to death!". It doesn't mean they don't believe in bullets or that they can't die from blood loss.

These statements are common from dying people.

Evidence of nothing.

Apparently
From what I heard of her comments, there are people who don't believe they could have COVID-19. She says ones claim they must have something else.

I have been told that there are people who have been convinced that there is no COVID-19 virus; such ones could suppose they have something else.

Also, there is the claim that medical facilities report other sickness deaths as caused by COVID-19 so the facility can get government money. So, ones might believe they are being misdiagnosed so the hospital can get funds.

Here's another fun fact....

Why Delirium in Coronavirus Patients Concerns Doctors – Health Essentials from Cleveland Clinic

There’s growing evidence linking delirium and coronavirus patients. One study reports that between 20% and 30% of hospitalized coronavirus patients develop delirium while another study indicates as many as 70% of critically ill coronavirus patients are affected.

Since she's talking specifically about critically ill patients....it's entirely possible they're delusional....because of Covid.

But don't let that stop you from buying into the confirmation biased politically motivated CNN hot take of the day.

How can my feelings control your life? Am I telling you to go out and party? Am I telling you to have large gatherings?

if you go out and get me sick, your feelings of rights were what killed me if I die from it, your selfishness is 100% at cause.

It's more of a common stereotype I think, considering that when it comes to smoking, there seems to be a lot of nonchalance toward getting cancer, heart disease, etc... Asia as a whole can't really be classified one way or another in regards to health or safety, IMO, without ignoring a lot of things.

Nonsense. You choose to step out your front door....you put yourself at risk.

650,000 people died from the flu in 2017.

Did you start a campaign to shame everyone who had a stuffy nose or sore throat, to stay home, lest they murder you with their germs?

I feel like common sense has just abandoned the world sometimes.

Nice of you to conveniently leave out that only 60k died in the US oh and using the higher end figure instead of the 290 TO 650k, and already 4 times that have died from covid. Plus that was a particularly bad year. And guess what, we have vaccines that we use to prevent the flu, maybe people should be wearing masks during flu season and not going out if they are sick.

Yup, this. There is this odd culture of toughing out the flu, showing up at work/school, and not worrying about infecting others.

We could change that if we wanted to.

Is that what you think got Vietnam good results?

I think its fair to say culture played a part. They definitely took it seriously and listened to the best scientific advice available....

Then they rolled out the military to enforce that scientific advice at every level of society and placated society with a steady stream of pro-nationalistic propaganda.

Worked like a charm.

I didn't leave out anything. Covid is a global virus, and so is influenza.

The flu vaccine is never 100% effective, and some years, is almost completely ineffective. Were you rallying for isolation and lockdowns and masks during those years?

Hmm.

Oh, so now you're suddenly supportive of wearing masks during flu season! Why am I not surprised? But you weren't throwing that idea around before 2020, were you?

:)

I am all for putting laws into place that would support protecting employment for people who are sick and want to stay home, both to protect their own health and others. I had a co-worker tell me that she comes into work even if she has a fever, and she was utterly convinced she put nobody else at risk because she kept her office door closed. As if she didn't walk through the hallways to get in and out, or visit the restroom or the break room or the copy machine, and didn't touch buttons or doorknobs along the way. She was infuriating.

Sadly, a lot of employers can and will fire people who take too much sick time, even if they're legitimately ill. I understand the quandry; you have a business to run, and you can't do it without manpower. But if someone is sick, they need to stay home; period.
