Due to the way humans are it is very convenient and necessary for us to reduce things into categories and into groups. On top of group cohesion there's also the fact that the brain can use a lot of energy, energy which might be a very limited resource. when we are too busy fighting enemies and trying to survive we don't have the luxury to participate as much in the higher things of humanity.

So I would think that there were many ups and downs depending on the people involved, the time in history and what they were having to go through. what we see as major Traditions are in fact a huge collection of experiences and people of various states of being who have various angels and evil spirits fighting over them.

this is true of course, but my question is in reference to the two seeds of which Cain and Abel are also pictures of (an inheritance divided) and can be seen in their offerings God did not ask for ... Cain's being of labor whereas Abel's was not ... also taking into account Adams lineage began with Seth ...

Adams two sons reference the two perceptions of his garden/mind ( mixed spices ) one from within as in the seed of the women and one from without as in the seed of a serpent .... a dualism, He is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.

when we eat of the tree of knowledge of good and evil we slay/crucify the truth we are or said another way same truth ... our own reasoning seeded by a serpent divides/separates us from the truth or the truth we are becomes cast down when our garden/mind is not enclosed.

Jesus nakedness was not revealed because he kept the law "thou shall not eat of it" and therefor did not make way for a serpent/enemy to sow tares in his garden/mind ....

i see all the characters in the book as pictures of the process .... to me Cain as an example is a picture of a man that tills the ground, which speaks to a perception of flesh (laboring to bring forth (By the sweat of your brow you will eat your bread,) and this perception as an elder that serves the younger as in first the natural and then the spiritual and these examples also portrayed as an Esau then Jacob, Ishmael then Isaac, Adam as the first man, Jesus as the second who made the two one again ...

its interesting to me that Mary Magdalene who he drove seven demons from was the first to see him and upon seeing him did not recognize him, but mistook him for the gardener ... as in a man that tills the ground ...
