Why not read the rest of the story?

(Acts 16:30-34)

Why was the jailer out at midnight, in the dark looking for water to be baptized in?

Here is your bible answer (1Peter 3:21) (Mark 16:16) (Acts 22:16).
They got water baptized after they got saved. It didn't save them. It was just a public declaration of faith like we do today.

Nothing alone saves.
My bible (KJV) says Jesus alone saves.

John 3:16
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

^^That's referring to the days of Noah, the protection from the flood. Noah and his family were saved from the flood.

Water baptism is a work and it cannot save anyone. Only the work of Christ on the cross saves. None of your works can save you!

he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him

. Now therefore are we all here present before God, to hear all things that are commanded thee of God.
34 ¶ Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:
35 But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.

Then all will be saved.

But God says that is not true (Mt. 7:13,14)

Mt 7:13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

You obey by believing. The bible says exactly what it means to obey. It means to believe the gospel...

Romans 10:16
“But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?”

Romans 5:19
19 For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.

The obedience of one refers to Jesus.

Which scripture says that?

(Mark 16:16) disagrees with you.

Bel + Bapt = Saved

Many are teaching the following.

Bel = Saved + Bapt (later on)

NOT TRUE!!!

I don't think that anyone in history ever sought out God.

Romans 3:10-11
As it is written:
There is no righteous person, not even one. There is no one who understands. There is no one who seeks out God.

You might need to revise that idea.

Says the fool in is heart. That’s how the quote begins. Nothing in the verse you quoted that refutes what I said.

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, " BUT THE RIGHTEOUS man SHALL LIVE BY FAITH."”

I enjoy discussing issues including freewill issues. It just that every person here that has disagreed with me has argued against unlimited freewill instead of arguing against what I actually believe. Seems to be a lot of that around here. I`m not keen on defending things I don`t believe in, neither are you.

Rick I am new here And I've been reading what you post and I have to tell you I absolutely totally and completely agree with what you say,.. and I think you are absolutely correct. it really encourages and strengthens me reading your posts. so I am one person that is saying yes I think you are absolutely right-I so agree with the things you are saying -When I read your posts I want to jump up and scream with joy and say 'yes yes! I'm so glad you said that!' you have really encouraged me thank you:)- beachykeen:)

I`m not sure that a debate enviornment is a good place to get your encouragement but I appriciate the kind words. I`ve often questioned now and in the past whether anything I write of this nature has been helpful to anyone so that is nice.

I give the remarks of others more consideration then I let on and I find that the Spirit will often lead me to focus on things I wouldn`t have caught just studying the Bible on my own.

We advance in knowledge of God by studying the scriptures, by hearing the gospel which in our day can include reading the opinions of others and lastly, most importantly by revelation of the Holy Spirit and I`ll give you a verse on that.

John 14:26
"But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you."

I often pray before I begin to study and meditate on the scriptures and I will ask God to open my mind and my heart and show me His truth. I try very hard to set aside my preexisting beliefs and ideas and just be a blank page before the Lord. Over a period of years my understanding of the gospel changed radically yet at the same time I remain pretty orthodox in my views.

It's just one of many heretical doctrines they believe. But it is heresy according to the early Church.
No, it isn't. Don't you know that they had heated debates back then about all the same things that we debate about now? The truth doesn't come from some council in 431, it comes from scripture.

Neither is true. You don't have to be water baptized to be saved, nor do you have to be water baptized to prove you are saved. You are baptized by the Holy Spirit upon belief and that is what saves you and it's a one-time done deal. Water baptism is good to do out of obedience, as a part of being a disciple of Christ, as a public declaration of faith after you are saved. It is a ritual symbolizing the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ which is why they did it after they were saved in scripture and which is why we as believers should do it as well once we get saved. But it is NOT a requirement for salvation. That would be works-based salvation if it were.

Jesus came to baptize with fire. John the Baptist dunked people in a river. But that was the shadow baptism that preceded the baptism in fire.

Matthew 3:11
As for me, I baptize you with water for repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, and I am not fit to remove His sandals; He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.

See different type of baptism.

Nice try INSERTING backslider into the text when the bible actually says the following

1- all are under sin
2- none has done good no not one
3- there is none righteous no not one
4- there is no one who seeks God no not one
5- all are slaves to sin, sin is their master

Anymore non biblical things you want to add to your argument ?

Anymore Ad Hominem attacks you would like to say ?

Can you address and argument from the bible instead of making personal attacks ?

hope this helps !!!
It Says "THEY TURNED ASIDE." meaning they backslid.

I hope everyone will be saved but perhaps that may not be true.

Jesus is the doorway, the gate, to eternal life.

John 10:9
I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. They will come in and go out, and find pasture.

Must one confess to be saved?
According to Romans 10:9, a confession must be made.

Romans 10:9
That if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

Some would probably interpret that verse saying the confession precedes baptism. I would interpret the confession of Jesus as a lifestyle.
