The point was that the Democrats did not even touch upon our most pressing national concerns during their convention and chose instead to offer the viewers mainly meaningless generalities like "Hope" and "Light."
Ok, shoot. What is in your opinion, the most pressing national concern at the moment and what is the Republican (Trump) plan to fix it?

So what's the difference between that and the Dems saying over and over,

Joe is a good guy, Joe is a good guy!
That when they say it about Joe Biden it’s actually true.

This statement reminds me of the Republican Party during the 2016 presidential election... "We'll give you someone other than Hillary."

Since you seem to have misunderstood, I'll rephrase. To oppose the candidate of the opposition party--and show why--is a normal thing and is to be expected. That's the case whether we are speaking of the Republicans or the Democrats.

That is not the same as avoiding the most important and pressing concerns of the nation and substituting instead "Vote for us because we are the out-of-power party."

The 1856 is good enough. A new platform is not needed for those who would vote for him even if he "stood in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shot somebody."

I did vote for Trump. I didn't want to, but the idea of Hillary being president was too much of a nightmare for me in terms of things I do and don't believe in. I don't really care for Trump, but I had no choice. That's was my own perspective.

As for as voting for Trump even if he stood in the street and shot someone....

....the same can be said of Hillary supporters, Obama supporters, Bush supporters, Clinton supporters, and all the rest.

People know what they believe in - killing babies or not, traditional marriage or not, etc.

They choose the person who backs up their beliefs and will not waver and defend them to the hilt.

It's just human nature.

We're agreed then.

All that the party is offering is "we'll give you someone other than Trump."

So "Vote early and vote often!!"
:boh:

So they are no longer offering socialism, anarchy, and a complete breakdown of the social order? Well I guess that must be a relief for our more conservative citizens.

The issue was the platform and the convention. No, they did not do much to promote their own policies, not any more than they addressed the most pressing needs of the nation. Instead, they opted for "Hope," etc.

I guess they can no longer count on your vote then.

If for some reason the Republicans have chosen to avoid re-arguing all of their platform planks, partly because the Coronavirus' limitations make lengthy debates as per usual almost impossible...

there is no story here.
The platform is published as a document. It is ratified at the convention but it is not produced at the convention. If the GOP cannot discuss and produce a document without meeting in person, how can they conduct any of their business during a pandemic?

As you know, democrats did publish a detailed platform.

It's open to modification at the convention, and that often causes a lot of debate.

Which can be done remotely. Like I said, if they can’t finalize a platform during covid, how can they do any of their work?
