Well, if you are actually dying that is to say you are terminally ill often you have to leave any now because you are not fit for work in those cases you very likely qualify for disability.

kidney transplant isn't fatal, and it applies to ANY TIME YOU NEED SICK LEAVE.

Your just a idiot, the common flu will put you out for 2-4 weeks

Not really. Depends on the person. I had the Flu last year, and my schedule was Tuesday and Thursday as I was working 24 hour shifts then. I was out That Tuesday and Thursday as I discovered I had the Flu on Monday night. I was back to work the following Tuesday.

Many of my co-workers who also got the Flu, were out at most their two or three shifts that they work in a week.

that wasn't the flu that was the cold, the flu is a 2+ week sickness, 2 weeks for flu, and more if you get pnumonia or such.

Makes no sense as you all are around people who are sick/injured and therefore are the MOST likely to need you all again pretty quickly if things get worse for them.

It was the flu as it was test confirmed by a doctor.

I'm an EMT, please don't try and school me on illnesses.

No worries there, they’ll still vote Trump.
Yes, because many of us do not trust the democrats and feel that Trump has done things to help this country.

I may have created a a misunderstanding. The following Tuesday after that Monday night was a week later. Not the next day.

I hope that clears up any misunderstanding.

I was, yes, but my week consisted of a Tuesday and Thursday. I was feeling better on Thursday and could have gone in, but stayed home in case I was still contagious. By my next shift which was the following Tuesday I should have no longer been contagious and was able to go back to work.

Still not the two or three weeks that someone else was saying.

My work week consists of Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday now, so I would be out three days if I were to come down with the flu.

that makes more sense. I thought you meant you were so scared of losing pay that you and your co-workers literally took no time off. I was like EMTS are the LAST people that need to be coming in sick.

One would think that, but my company has a habit of making you feel bad because you got sick and are needing to take time off because you're contagious or just cannot do your job because you are physically ill.

Well, if they make you feel bad so be it because for your own health and the health of those you treat you NEED to stay home if you are sick.

Which has always been the way I looked at things as an EMT.

Been doing this over eighteen years.

What are the options over there for people with chronic health issues?
The ER and depending on other factors (including the doctor themselves) you can still get private treatment).

I would hope most EMTS feel that way.

I mean long term health conditions, what does a person in the US with a long term health condition do to get treatment? Insurance policies have caps, medical treatment is expensive - what are the options?

I would hope that as well, but I have seen some that do not. Which is sad and dangerous.
Why do the bosses not send them home? As common sense says that is just dangerous.
