The next day, she issued a "correction" stating she should have said that she "hoped" he would learn instead of "believed" -- either way, I don't buy it. She and her 99 colleagues know very well the only principle Trump has is: Can I get away with it?

Wasn't the message something like when you're rich they let you do it? Only I don't think the original "they" was GOP Senators, but in this case it seems to be prophetic.

As an aside< i understand and respect those Republicans who say that much of what Trump has done is wrong, but that the actions do not rise to the level of impeachment, especially in an election year.

Removing a president for the first time in the history of the country should require a bi-partisan effort, as Pelosi used to say so often.

Hm, I would have thought it just would have required convincing evidence of him abusing the power of his office for personal gain. Not sure why it matters how close to an election that happens.

"We can't let that go on", he says about 3 minutes in, in reference to his opponents criticizing and trying to remove him from office (because apparently to hurt our great God-King Trump is to hurt America itself).

Well, I'll bet the 2nd Amendment folk to do something about that!

Even for Trump I can scarcely believe that not two minutes in he makes this meeting all about himself.

At least he didn't take God's name in vain again or use profanity again to express his disgust toward the people he personally hates or resort to calling other Republicans human scum again because they don't politically support him. At least he didn't suggest again that his supporters knock the crap out of anyone who protests against him or suggest that the Second Amendment people could act against his political opponents. Perhaps he deserves a little credit for exercising a bit self-control in his speech this time by not suggesting that another deceased lawmaker is looking up instead of looking down.

The Democrats just don't get it. As hard as it is to fathom, Trump's supporters are really and sincerely convinced that babies are being murdered. People like Dreher, who see as clearly as any Democrat what kind of a man Trump is, are going to vote for him anyway for that reason. It's the single most important issue of the 2020 campaign and the Democrats are ignoring it.
