  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

President Trump speaks of the value to him and our nation of religious freedom and our nation & his need for God's help.

The Prayer Breakfast has become a joke.

Did anybody seriously think he would get the message?
Wasn't the message something like when you're rich they let you do it? Only I don't think the original "they" was GOP Senators, but in this case it seems to be prophetic.

As an aside< i understand and respect those Republicans who say that much of what Trump has done is wrong, but that the actions do not rise to the level of impeachment, especially in an election year.

Removing a president for the first time in the history of the country should require a bi-partisan effort, as Pelosi used to say so often.
Hm, I would have thought it just would have required convincing evidence of him abusing the power of his office for personal gain. Not sure why it matters how close to an election that happens.

"We can't let that go on", he says about 3 minutes in, in reference to his opponents criticizing and trying to remove him from office (because apparently to hurt our great God-King Trump is to hurt America itself).

Well, I'll bet the 2nd Amendment folk to do something about that!

Even for Trump I can scarcely believe that not two minutes in he makes this meeting all about himself.

At least he didn't take God's name in vain again or use profanity again to express his disgust toward the people he personally hates or resort to calling other Republicans human scum again because they don't politically support him. At least he didn't suggest again that his supporters knock the crap out of anyone who protests against him or suggest that the Second Amendment people could act against his political opponents. Perhaps he deserves a little credit for exercising a bit self-control in his speech this time by not suggesting that another deceased lawmaker is looking up instead of looking down.

Hmm. Good point.

The acquittal at the end of it all was the message both Trump and his accusers have been sent. Trump understood it. His accusers are still having a hard time accepting it.

The American Conservative wins the headline contest

Donald Trump Eats, Prays, Hates
But notice this paragraph:

"Trump is a small, ugly, godless and graceless man. This is not news — but don’t you start with the whiny “but you’re still going to vote for him” stuff again. Maybe I will, but that’s because I would rather have a president who is all those things, but who in the end does what he can to protect the lives of the unborn than a president who is personally decent, but whose policies and judicial appointments permit that slaughter."

The Democrats just don't get it. As hard as it is to fathom, Trump's supporters are really and sincerely convinced that babies are being murdered. People like Dreher, who see as clearly as any Democrat what kind of a man Trump is, are going to vote for him anyway for that reason. It's the single most important issue of the 2020 campaign and the Democrats are ignoring it.

Doing that at a prayer breakfast would have require his followers to really twist their morals in knots to defend... and they're sore enough after the impeachment.

We all know his response is forthcoming:

Sore? Trump and His "followers" aren't the ones who just went down in defeat.

Yes, that will be the narrative used by the MSM when the Bidens get investigated. It's their way of "getting out in front" of the issue as a way of attempting to discredit any investigation into the Bidens, just as the impeachment scam was.

Come along. Trump defeated Hillary in 2016 and the Trump team is still looking for some way to "get" her.

They don't have to twist anything. The only two moral issues they have are abortion and LGBT.

No, this is for Vindman being reassigned, and Mulvaney getting fired, and Romney sniped at, and...

I don't hear him mentioning her much anymore.
I thought the new accusation is that he's out to "get" Joe Biden.
Then again, paranoia is usually all it is when someone believes someone (like Trump) is out to get them.

Don't forget the 2nd Amendment, religious freedom, border security, election security, and everything else brought up in the SOTU address that nancy tore up in a temper tantrum.
