Sorry, this what Congress is supposed to do, be a check on the Executive. Stopping someone from talking to Congress is a clear sign you are hiding something that Congress needs to know.

As of now ... the Senate will refuse to convict, but the House's impeachment will still tarnish Trump's brand.

Of course, more evidence of wrong-doing will, quite possibly, turn more Republicans toward an honest consideration of impeachment.

That means there are two possibilities. Either you get a democrat victory and president and there will be no more need to impeach, or there will be a republican victory and there still won't be a majority to impeach the re-elected Trump.

Those who do not know History are doomed to repeat it. Nixon was not impeached for the Watergate break in, it was teh cover up that nailed him. Trump probably would very likely have not been impeached for his initial acts, at worst impeached but not convicted. But his cover ups are becoming so egregious that soon enough Republicans will vote against him.
