Polly want a cracker, thou great copy-and-paster?
Des Ford, now? How about some Canright and Ratzlaff, or Numbers or Dirk Anderson. I can help you out if you're just looking for some dissenters' work to regurgitate. I could quote some Goldstein, Paulien, Gane, Nichols or even Moses
Hull (and you don't want none of him).

I know, I know: "Church Fathers, Church Fathers, fail, fail, burden of proof

I read your responses and they do not prove the early church taught your doctrines.

The burden of proof is on you to quote the Church Fathers to show that your doctrines were taught by the early church. You have failed the Challenge.

It is clear your teachings are not taught by the early church.

History is not on your side.

History, of which we are all painfully aware, is readily revised. The Word Of God is not. I am merely defending my faith, the basis of which you attempt to obscure by placing the most ridiculous, extra-biblical conditions on the the dialogue.

Bravo

Your faith did not exist in the early church. Read the Church Fathers for yourself.

The burden of proof is on you to quote the Church Fathers to show that your doctrines were taught by the early church. You have failed the Challenge.

In case you missed it those people were taught by the Apostles.

So, since you accepted the challenge search the Church Fathers for your interpretations. I do not think they are there.
Not gonna happen, because you and I both know they are not there. If they were, you would have no quasi-invincible challenge.

This is a strange thread ;o), maybe I'm a simple person, but

We are to pray Our Father who art in heaven ... therefore my Father is in heaven

John 10:30

30 I and the Father are one.”

also ....

Revelation 21:14

14 The wall of the city had twelve foundations bearing the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.

and ...

2 Timothy 3:16

All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,

therefore ....

I'm sticking with the Word of God, Jesus and the twelve. Amen!

I wonder if I could do that? Let's see, I've got it.

Make a list of all your favorite meat entree recipes in The Betty Crocker Cookbook, you will not find that combo in The Complete Vegetarian Cookbook. Yes, this is a challenge!!!

(By the way, I know this thread isn't losing much tread, but am I the only who's noticed that I'm addressing each comment in an itemized fashion, and the only feedback I'm getting is "Church Fathers, Church Fathers, Wikipedium?"

Thank you for proving SDA is not the early church.
How could I? The Church wasn't incorporated until 1863. So glad I could be of help in proving absolutely nothing of any consequence.

Tertullian does not believe in the Adventist doctrine of soul sleep.

"What, then, is to take place in that interval? Shall we sleep? But souls do not sleep even when men are alive: it is indeed the business of bodies to sleep, to which also belongs death itself, no less than its mirror and counterfeit sleep."

Methodius, or St. Methodius, says that Sunday, the day of Christ's resurrection, is "the true Sabbath."

"For I also, taking my journey, and going forth from the Egypt of this life, came first to the resurrection, which is the true Feast of the Tabernacles, and there having set up my tabernacle, adorned with the fruits of virtue, on the first day of the resurrection, which is the day of judgment, celebrate with Christ the millennium of rest, which is called the seventh day, even the true Sabbath."

I guess I'm confused about these posts and even this thread. I have never heard an Adventist claim that our beliefs can be proven from extra-Biblical sources. Indeed, I believe it's a bona fide tenet of our (SDA) faith that no Christian doctrine can be validated apart from scripture, not even from the writings of Mrs. White. She even advances this view, herself.

The Early Church Fathers are an aid to understanding the meaning of scripture. There is a tendency to add layer after layer of interpretation to scripture. The Early Church Fathers are not influenced by layers of interpretation that were added centuries later.

Except for the layers that were added to the Old testament.

Thank you for proving SDA is not the early church.

You would do yourself good to study the sanctuary in the old testament as it is the plan of redemption for all man kind.

Psalm 77:13
Thy way, O God, is in the sanctuary: who is so great a God as our God?

The apostles were wrong about the death of Lazarus were they not?

John 11:11-14 King James Version (KJV)
Jesus speaking

11 These things said he: and after that he saith unto them, Our friend Lazarus sleepeth; but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep.

12 Then said his disciples, Lord, if he sleep, he shall do well.

13 Howbeit Jesus spake of his death: but they thought that he had spoken of taking of rest in sleep.

14 Then said Jesus unto them plainly, Lazarus is dead.

This claim would be easy for you to refute by providing sources, quotes and links to where it was taught before the 1800's Looking forward to what you have.
