Yes, I really do have a dragon in my backyard. If you also believe in the dragon, the dragon will grant you treasures of all sorts.
Hey hey you

Cool you - an atheist - is proclaiming a dragon that will grant treasures of all sorts, if i believe.
I proclaim that Jesus is the Son of God who died so we can be reconciled to God.
I can prove to you that there is the dragon in my backyard. Once you open your heart and believe, you'll understand how the dragon's existence is self evident.
It has been noted that you believe in this dragon.
So, do you believe now?
Not yet, i have to admit im quite taken with Jesus right now. Lets go deeper and check this dragon out before i make any hasty decisions.
Do you think that by mentioning Jesus multiple times I'll start believing? Nah.
If it did it would have been quite extraordinary.
Trust me, i know what point you are make.
Im curious. Where do you think im going with this?
No, even if we both believed you can fly, doesn't mean you can actually fly unless you can rise up into the air by yourself.
My friend i think you may be confused here. That was an example to illustrate the arguement you are trying to make ie belief and proof?
If i believe you have a dragon and you believe you have a dragon then you have a dragon. I used these variations to illustrate the illogical nature of such reasoning. The next step would be to have proof on an outcome.
Ps, I do not believe i can fly but...i wish i could touch the sky... i think about it every night and day.... cannot spread my wings and fly away.... i believe i cant flyyyyy, he cant fly!!!!
No, I'm just asking for something better than the way you seem to think it works, which is, "Just start believing, then you'll believe."
If you can't see the problem with that, then there's no point in this discussion continuing.
Lets rule out great wonders and signs, and mere belief. What 'something' better do you want to happen?
Because I tried in order to satisfy my husband when we got engaged, and it didn't work.
Hello to your dear husband!!!
What didnt work? What did you try and do?
I've seen lots of other people try the same thing, and they can't come to a single conclusion.
What 'same thing' do you and these people try? What are you doing to get a result?
They come up with all sorts of different results.
What diferent results happened and what did they do?
That is not what would happen if there really was a God. Not unless he liked being a jerk, and I doubt you'd agree that's the case.
What should happen and what outcome do you expect?
In any case, if YOU make the claim, then it's up to you to support it. It's called the burden of proof. If you make an extraordinary claim, you're going to have to give me something more than the claim in order to convince me that your claim is correct.
What something more do you expect?
I mean, I've made the claim about the dragon in my backyard. What investigations have you made to prove my dragon claim false?
We are just starting to analyze that. Now it has been confirmed that you indeed believe that there is an invisible dragon in you backyard who rewards faith with all sorts of treasure.
Lets start the investigation.
Kylie - "Where did I say the dragon isn't real?"
So it is now confirmed that you believe that there is a dragon in your backyard.
Kylie - "If you also believe in the dragon, the dragon will grant you treasures of all sorts."
Well we can test this statement for proof. What treasures have you received for your faith in this dragon?
Which tradition does this dragon belong to ie European or Asian?
How do you interact with this dragon?
Does the dragon have a name?
Has anyone else had an encounter with this dragon - you believe to be in your backyard?
Besides giving treasures to reward for faith, what is the purpose of this dragon?
Do you believe this dragon is superior to Jesus? If yes, how?
What can this dragon offer you and i, in regards to the afterlife?
Is the dragon friendly or agressive and how do you know?
Well, when you say things like, "Oh, you can't expect those sort of results," when I ask for some hard, concrete evidence.
Most of us do not get such extraordinary encounters like angels trumpeting, getting knocked of a horse and having jesus ask 'why do you persecute me?'. My experience was pretty amazing but not all of us get the same experience. Ive told you my testimony?
With an expectation like yours, are you sure you would know how to hear from God or even know how to identify Him? Have you considered that you may have formed the wrong opinion of God and correct methods?
Let me put it this way, if I make a claim that there's a dragon in my backyard, you could come and conduct tests. You could look in my backyard. But you would not see a dragon. "There's the evidence that your claim is wrong," you'd say. "When I look for the dragon in the place where you say the dragon is, I see nothing! That's what I'd expect to see if there was no dragon at all."
Please excuse my attention to detail. Your claim should also include rewards faith with treaures, of all sorts but so far so good!
"Ah," I'd say, "but the dragon is invisible!" I would use invisibility as an excuse to explain away the failure of your test.
So we have an invisible dragon. How were you able to see it to confirm your belief? What experiences have you had with this dragon?
So the you'd go out and walk around my backyard with your hands stretched out, feeling for the dragon. "I feel nothing," you'd say. "There's no scaly skin, no sharp teeth, no leathery wings. When I feel for the dragon in the place where you say the dragon is, I feel nothing! That's what I'd expect to feel if there was no dragon at all."
Actually my response would be the one i gave previously. Im too old and lazy to walk around your backyard.
"Ah," I'd say, "but the dragon is intangible!" I would use intangibility as an excuse to explain away the failure of your test.
So it cannot be perceived by the senses. How did you perceive it?
And this would go on. You could claim that you can't smell the dragon, and I'd say the dragon produces no odours. You'd claim that you can't hear the dragon, and I'd say that the dragon is perfectly silent. No matter what test you run, you would get results that show that there is no dragon, and I would give some excuse as to why your test failed.
Actually i might come to the conclusion you genuinely believed there was an invisible dragon that rewards faith with treasure. Right now im more interested in what treasure you have received - the treasure is intergal as a result.
But how would you test my excuses?
Well lucky for us, i just started and i look forward to your answers.
Check this out, ill turn one card over - for fun!!!
You tell me you have a dragon and try to convince me it exists, however you do not believe this dragon exists.
You convinced me.
I now believe there is an invisible dragon in your backyard who rewards faith with treasures of all sorts.
You could say im easily persuaded to believe something but what were your reasons or motivations to convince me to believe something that is not true?
And what does that say when we compare these 2 situations.
X believes T exists
X tries to convince Y that T exists.
Y now believes T exists
And
X does not believe T exists
X tries to convince Y that T exists.
Y now believes T exists
What do you think?
What's the difference between a dragon that is completely undetectable and no dragon at all?
Lets examine it. How did you detect an undetectable dragon?
How do detect no dragon at all?
Cheers.
Dude i love our discussions
