I think the biggest issue here, is the fact that there are so many unwanted pregnancies to begin with.

But then in a society that worships sexuality, a society where fornication and adultery is commonplace, what could we possibly expect, other than a bunch of unwanted pregnancies?

There's a reason why God made laws against Fornication and Adultery. This very issue is among several reasons why He didn't want people sleeping with just anybody anywhere they pleased.

Now, maybe if people would abstain from sexual immorality, then there'd be a lot fewer women who would want or need an abortion in the first place.

An ounce of prevention is far more valuable than a pound of cure.

And yes, I know some abortions come from legitimately married couples who accidentally get pregnant. No, I'm not saying married couples should abstain from sex. They should, however, always use contraception and if they STILL get pregnant, well perhaps God wanted them to have a child, and if they'd just put their trust in Him, He'll help them through it?

Just a thought.

There was no god involved in framing those 'laws'. Those were dreamt up by men. Just as in this case. Men who wish to be able to dictate to women how, when and with whom they should have sexual relations and how they should act afterwards.

The same laws apply to men, lol. In fact, the Bible speaks doubly harshly towards men who commit sexual sin (as they were more likely to do so). Don't bring feminism into this, because it simply doesn't belong here.

Either way, could we agree that if you removed Fornication and Adultery from the picture entirely, the # of abortions per year would drop like a rock?

No, you misunderstand. By 'men' I mean 'humans'. Those supposed 'laws' were dreamt up by humans and then attributed to fictitious gods to give them some justification.

And yes, if men and women just stopped having sexual relations, there wouldn't be any abortions.

Now, let's re-enter the real world.........

@SteveB28 :

I didn't say "stopped having sexual relations".

I said "stopped committing Adultery and Fornication".

Notice that sex inside of marriage is neither adultery, nor fornication.

You're implying that it is impossible for someone to live life without having sex with someone they're not married to.

The same as it always has.

But it isn't the same in these circumstances, is it? You have a very, very large pool of people for whom no 'crime' will have been committed, from which you have to filter out a smaller number that you will claim have. Are you going to investigate each and every one of those women?

The married status is immaterial to this discussion. People have sex. Pregnancies ensue. Many women do not wish to proceed with these pregnancies. Many more women have unintended miscarriages. If you make it a murder offence to terminate a pregnancy, how are you going to identify the 'guilty'?

Or perhaps state your opinion with something known as kindness

Oh the irony!

In a discussion wherein people are calling for women to be charged and possibly executed for murder because they wish to control their own reproduction, and you bay for kindness?!

Well, someone dies in every successful abortion so yes these circumstances qualify. Is an abortion accidental? No. Was it justified to take a life? No. Thus it is murder.

You have a very, very large pool of people for whom no 'crime' will have been committed, from which you have to filter out a smaller number that you will claim have.

Most abortions are murder...

Are you going to investigate each and every one of those women?

Me? lol...murder is handled by police not bible students on this website.

I notice you're dodging my entire point, because you don't want to actually consider what I said.

My point is...

The best way to deal with Abortion is to lower the number of people who want/"need" abortions in the first place.

The best way to lower the number of people who want/"need" abortions, is to reduce the sexual immorality that goes on in society.

And then I posed a scenario that you still haven't even attempted to consider... that perhaps if people weren't sexually immoral, then this problem would have never happened in the first place.

But, because Fornication and Adultery has to do with religion, you automatically don't even want to hear about it, consider it, or talk about it despite the huge positive effects it would have on society if people actually followed those two laws.

If people stopped fornicating and committing adultery, abortion rates would plummet like a rock, and only stable households would be raising kids, and in a few generations, just maybe, the kids would be turning into better adults, and crime rates might start falling as well.

Broken households releasing kids into society is a huge part of why our society is on the decline. A big part of this is coming from sexual immorality. Aborting the kids isn't fixing the problem, nor will it.

And control how long their child lives? That's not a mother's right.

There's an easy way for a woman to control her reproduction... it's called... "Don't let a guy stick his reproductive organ in there in the first place".

Just like if you're a man who doesn't want to pay child support... don't stick that thing in a woman, then.

No, it is you who is avoiding the point.

This discussion was NOT commenced to discuss the morality of sex inside or outside of marriage.

It is devoted to the discussion of whether or not abortion should be considered a murder crime and how it would be administered and the impact on the huge number of women who suffer miscarriages.

Start your own discussion if you wish to comment otherwise.

Again, you are wildly off topic. Take your opinions elsewhere, unless you are prepared to address the issues in this discussion.

It boils down to "Prevention is better than Curing". Instead of debating whether or not abortion should be a crime, or murder, why not debate how we can get rid of the majority of all abortions to begin with? lol.

(Almost) No abortions = no need to call it a crime = ???? = Profit.
