  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Those who worship the beast are those whose names are not found written in the Book of Life ---- they never accepted Jesus (Romans 10:8-13); they never admitted that he was the Christ, the promised Messiah.

That's really not what I was asking.

Are our names written in the Book of Live before the foundation of the world per scripture?

"And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are THEREFORE not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world."

Only the names of those who accept Jesus as Savior / Messiah will appear in the Book of Life when it is opened. We are not fore-ordained to be saved. Salvation is by Grace through Faith. Once we have confessed Romans 10:8-13, for example, our names are recorded.

This version reads...

Rev 13:8 All who dwell on the earth will worship him, everyone whose name has not been written from the foundation of the world in the book of life of the Lamb who has been slain. (NASB)
To me, that's indicating that one's name is written "from the foundation of the world".

Everyone written in the book of life were there BEFORE the world began. It goes to God's omniscience, something we can't fully grasp.

God knows it all past present and future...that's what Revelation 13:8 is communicating.

This means our name isn't written in the Book of Life when we become a Christian, but long before we're even born.

One is before, the other from; the book is no more literal then knowledge in the form of two fruits from a tree would be.

I agree, the book isn't literal, but imagery. Yet the message is still there, one is chosen from/before the foundations of the world, their name is written in the 'book' and it's possible to have it removed from the 'book'.

If it were possible for it to be removed it would have never been there to begin with.

We must see the book in the light of whether we labor by thought/knowledge to be, or whether knowledge is the truth of what we always were.

It's possible for it to be removed...

Rev 3:5 The one who conquers will be clothed thus in white garments, and I will never blot his name out of the book of life. I will confess his name before my Father and before his angels.

Are they then removed out of the mind of God as something he did not see the end of from the beginning ... though the names were written before the foundation of the world. Is the tree of life and the book of life and christ who is the life the same truth ...

The same way you get your name removed is the same way Christ was crucified, or pierced.

Not sure what' you're saying. My only point was that apparently whatever name is 'written' can be removed.

The above verse you quoted tells us the names have been written from the foundation of the world. Long before we were born.

One has to reason then, if a name that was written before all things were can be blotted out, then a name that God did not write from the foundation of the world can be added to it.

If God remains the same and does not change, then we remain the same in the mind of God, and do not change, which is the mind of Christ, which is the present form the kingdom has been given to us in.

To see what is the end of the matter has to be done in the light of not only the whole of scripture, but what these words mean to the one who spoke them, and how they relate to the purpose God purposed in himself as something relative to us.
