CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

matter can not be created or destroyed. i am not sure where you would find "nothing" anywhere in the universe.

I was not speaking of matter as being destroyed.
When God looked on that which was without form he said let there be light. This came from a Big Bang as the matter turned to plasma.

plasma is a state of matter, like liquid or solid.

he also didn't try to integrate physics formulas into his philosophy. things like feeling more energized or happy on a sunny day is more psychological then philosophical.

Socrates was killed for being really annoying as he never answered questions without creating more. Seriously, look it up, he frustrated the wrong people and was framed for treason. That or he was poisoned, I always mix up ancient philosopher deaths.

Unfortunately, these days you see people try to use science to lend legitimacy to their mystical ideas. "What the *BLEEP* do we know?" is a particularly bad offender.

And I wonder how much knowledge we humans take with us to heaven. I look for much of the earthly knowledge to vanish from our minds simply upon the initial glimpse of the heavenly reward.
