  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Calvinism provides an excuse for those in hell

Well, very good. Of course eternal life can't be rejected. So why all the silly questions and such? What point were you trying to make?

Why are there people in hell?

Sad that you aren't paying attention very well. That "too" was in reference to another Calvinist who seemed to be arguing the Arminian side regarding OSAS.

Wow, the chip on the shoulder is large on this one.

If you'd dropped that first line, I'd have gotten the information, minus the indignation.

The ONLY difference between the 2 groups is why there is an excuse. But I see that you aren't willing to receive truth today.

You still aren't answering. I didn't ask what you thought the excuse was. I asked why it's an excuse.

Try again.

I can show you people who refused to believe. That is the same thing. Maybe not to you, but that's the way it is.

So no scripture? That's what I figured.

Nope. Not lost at all. Because it's just really sad that you think you can't meet the challenge to prove from Scripture the Trinity. Just show verses that speak of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. No problem at all.

Scripture is very clear: Jesus tasted death for all, NOT "all the elect" as you guys keep trying to spin it.

Why are you being so disingenuous? Where did I say that I couldn't prove the trinity from scripture? Try reading what I write. It would be better.

^^^^ There. You disagreed and then promoted it in the same post. Good job! LOL
No, bad job on your part. Apparently you don't understand what "in the sense of not guaranteed" means. Sad.

Heck yes. God is managing my life guaranteeing I'll be a believer.
Then why was Paul so concerned that believers "continue in the faith"? Are something speshul?

So thankful for that. I don't demand autonomy like a spoiled brat.
I suppose I could say that calling someone (or strongly suggesting) that someone else is a spoiled brat is stupid, but I'll just let it pass.

And if you can't provide any post where I have demanded anything, much less "autonomy", you need to apologize for your extremely rude and unChristian attitude. It doesn't become you at all. Though I'm becoming more and more expecting of it from you.

Rom. 8:28-30.
No, griff, it doesn't teach perservance of the saints. You just aren't understanding what it does teach. There is nothing about keeping believers believing, as you assume. Nothing at all. But I do expect that from you.

Well, once again we are shooting over each other's heads.

I had said this:
Well, very good. Of course eternal life can't be rejected. So why all the silly questions and such? What point were you trying to make?
But the context was that of believers who HAVE BEEN GIVEN ETERNAL LIFE.

But now, you move the goal post and make it look like I have contradicted myself. I'll bet you stay up nights trying to be so clever.

Once eternal life is received, it cannot be rejected. That's the the Arminians out there (Hi Walter). But those who NEVER believed, NEVER received it.

Very slick maneuver in trying to twist my words. But context always is the issue, even when you guys don't care and are only interested in trying to twist my words.

Your bad.

Much as I know you want everything to be about you, I think you'll find that griff was talking about synergists in general so unfortunately the spotlight isn't on you or your narcissistic behavior. That's not an insult by the way, merely an observation.

Oh, yes I have. But is appears that you just aren't paying any attention.

If you're going to ask questions, it would be helpful if you would pay attention.

I didn't ask what you thought the excuse was. I asked why it's an excuse.
And I told you. They weren't picked for heaven, like the elite chosen were. that IS an excuse.

I'm not giving you what I "think" is, I'm giving you what IS.

So you really aren't familiar with any verses that tell us that men can refuse the gift?

Acts 14:22
strengthening the disciples and encouraging them to remain true to the faith. “We must go through many hardships to enter the kingdom of God,” they said.

Acts 19:9
But some of them became obstinate; they refused to believe and publicly maligned the Way. So Paul left them. He took the disciples with him and had discussions daily in the lecture hall of Tyrannus.

Acts 7:51
You stiffnecked people, with uncircumcised hearts and ears! You are just like your fathers: You always resist the Holy Spirit!

I did. And you admitted that Calvinism cannot find any Scripture that says that God chose who will believe or that Christ died only for the elect. And then you added that you also can't find Scripture for the Oneness of God.

Yeah, disingenuous, all right. All over you.
