I'm not sure that 99.9% is correct. Most are probably scared to speak out against it because they will lose their job.

CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

They could always get a job telling creationists what they want to hear. Heck, if they hit the church circuit, they could probably make more money than their current job. There's no shortage of megachurches that would pay a scientist to come up on stage and tell everyone they're right.

Lose their job? They would become world famous over night. Universities would be begging them to accept honorary degrees. They would have their pick of any job any where. Science works because it corrects itself. It is expected to find things that are wrong and publish it. Why would biology be any different then any other scientific field?

Believing evolution is a conspiracy serves a dual purpose for nuttypiglet: first it makes him feel superior because he is one of the clever, special few who have seen through the whole worldwide charade when almost everyone else has been fooled, (gosh, how clever does that make nuttypiglet feel? Very clever indeed!), and secondly it allows him to smugly ignore any challenges to his beliefs involving evolution because it's all a conspiracy lie. What could be better?
Then there's the added bonus that actually having to find out about evolutionary science and use his brain to try and understand it becomes unnecessary. Result!
So as far as he's concerned a lot of good has come of it.

Of the scientists and engineers in the United States, only about 5% are creationists, according to a 1991 Gallup poll (Robinson 1995, Witham 1997). However, this number includes those working in fields not related to life origins (such as computer scientists, mechanical engineers, etc.). Taking into account only those working in the relevant fields of earth and life sciences, there are about 480,000 scientists, but only about 700 believe in "creation-science" or consider it a valid theory (Robinson 1995). This means that less than 0.15 percent of relevant scientists believe in creationism. And that is just in the United States, which has more creationists than any other industrialized country. In other countries, the number of relevant scientists who accept creationism drops to less than one tenth of 1 percent.

There would be reasons to see them in a "Christian" world.

Yep, folks like Ray Comfort, Ken Ham, and Kent Hovind (pre-incarceration) make way more money than the vast majority of biologists. If it were about jobs and money, biologists who disagree with evolution would be welcomed into that fold and be able to make way more money than they currently do with their actual scientific work.

Wow, really? Sheesh. I knew he made money, but I didn't know he rolled like that. And he's an idiot; imagine how much cheese you could squeeze if you actually had some expertise to back up your assertions.
It's a small wonder biologists aren't jumping ship left and right; there's money to be made.
