  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Dear George Zimmerman

If someone was repeatedly slamming your head into the ground would you assume they were trying to hurt or kill you? Would you defend yourself or just wait and see if you lost consciousness?hmmmm
Repeatedly? Were you there as a witness, or did you get the word repeatedly from the killer. The wounds and required treatment were not consistent with a 'repeated' bashing of the head on concrete.

Did you miss the witness that saw Trayvon on top of Zimmerman? How would you explain this?

Stand your ground doesn't give imminity to prosecution for murder. This should be rather obvious to you. Simply saying, "I was standing my ground" is not a magic phrase that makes murder legal.

But you do make a compelling case for why the stand your ground laws are to toxic and so racist.
A determination of "Stand your ground/self defense" in Florida gives immunity to not only prosecution for murder but from civil proceedings as well

You can't name one 17-year-old who was out for candy and talking with a friend, turn on a dime and intentionally murder a stranger.

Yet, you think it is actually rational to believe Trayvon did this.

So convincing you is immaterial.

Dude ... that happens all the time. What are you talking about?
So I don't know the names ... this happens every day.

Nope. It never happens. And I gave you all of human history to find ONE example where it did.

And you produced an emotional response sans evidence.

Well, then it is a good thing that there is ZERO evidence that Zimmerman's head was slammed into the concrete even once.

There is no correlation between violent crime and Trayvon Martin. So that is what is wrong with it. Innocent kids have the natural right to live their lives without people in society treating them as guilty for the crimes of others.

As a vanguard of natural rights, you ought to know this.
Innocent kids, yes. thugs who punch strangers in the nose and then pound their heads into the ground, no

Why would I care to explain it as it relates to what I said. If you have any real evidence that Martin 'repeatedly' slammed Zimmerman's head into the concrete, then bring it forth.
Zimmerman must be proven guilty. He does not have to prove his innocence nor does he have to prove he acted in self defense.

For all we know, Zimmerman slammed his own head on the concrete after he slipped on the wet grass while grabbing at Martin.

You still don't know what evidence is. The bullet hole in Trayvon's chest implicates Zimmerman. It doesn't magically disappear as evidence because you CHOOSE to believe Trayvon's killer's absurd story.

You imagined he assaulted another person. And you imagine that the very stand your ground law you think protects Zimmerman could never protect the black kid who was closer to his castle than George was to his castle.

Swim,

The trial's over. Evidence/testimony was presented. The jury decided. Zimmerman was acquitted. Interest is fading. Time to move on.

What is the point in trying to prove Zimmerman is innocent when it isn't necessary?
Don't you read and follow the discussions? My points were quite clear. If you no longer want to discuss this topic, nobody is stopping you from leaving the thread in search of more current topics.

Of course I do. I'm arguing Zimmerman has no obligation to prove his innocence. Anyone involved in a self defense shooting should never face arrest or detention. They should simply be able to carry on with their lives.

And I am arguing that there is no witness that saw Martin 'repeatedly' bashing Zimmerman's head into the concrete. If you want to address my argument then challenge it with some facts.

Then move on. The trial isn't over the stand your ground law and the systemic racism of Florida's justice system is very much on trial still.
