CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

haha this was great. My favorite things about this video were:
-Your list of catchy songs and the fact that you sang them. I'm secretly hoping that it backfired and made them get stuck in your head
-The fact that you had to activate your "honesty filter" after talking about how that's the only thing people know you for.
-The spontaneous dodging of insects
That might have been my favorite part. That was an awesome video! And I'm jealous of your home-ownershipness and the whole back porch thing you have going on there.

I liked the video and thought it made perfect sense.
Just to comment on a few things you mentioned.
I think one of the points about forgiveness was important. I think most people know that holding on to anger or disappointment takes a lot of energy. And when you do forgive, it takes a load off.
Also, the point about some jerky behavior being allowed to go on. To me the forum gets to passive sometimes. THe whole ignore and the issue will go away dosnt always work very well. Ill use myself as an example. Have I been a jerk to people on CF, sure. But, what I consider being a jerk and what others consider being a jerk is very different. Yet, there have been instances where Paul has gotten into arguments with me over it. Tellin me that hey guy you are being a jerk. Now of course in the moment if pretty much ignored him. But long term I have tried to tone it down because I do get that what I consider being a jerk and what others consider being a jerk is different. So ultimately, him just stepping up and say "hey you're being a jerk" has helped. If no one stepped up and ever told me anything and kept on the "lets ignore" path, then would I be forced to think "hey let me tone it down" prob not.
But, I enjoyed the video.

Hey, everyone else gave me the "popular" status so I am going along with it. But it is funny when you think about it, actually.
I think it takes a strong person to see what they do wrong or how they come off to others and try to either tone it down or change it. I am glad you saw how you were coming off, honestly.
And thank you.
I have so much to think about, and today gave me the push I need.

There are different kinds of trolls, just like there are different kinds of viruses. Some of them need to be stood up to and some of them need to be ignored. Some of them just enjoy arguing and trying to shame others for their beliefs, and they'll keep going as long as we keep giving them ammunition.

Yes they did. We were all in the masters program together. One actually moved to North Carolina for her PhD, she is from Greece.
