How wonderful to see this this morning. This morning after prayer, I had a cup of coffee and felt inspired to pray a Psalm. Inclina, Domine. (Psalm 90) was that very prayer. So odd that some don't see the Psalms as sung Prayers as that just seems so obvious to me.
I usually do this outside when at the house as my little girls white poodle tends to howl along if I chant in the house. This morning the little booger followed me and joined in much to my neighbor's delight. I could also hear him chuckling. That just made it better as he received a blessing from it as well.

We sing Psalm 25 at my church! Unto thee oh Lord, Do I lift up my soul! Unto thee oh Lord, DO I LIFT UP MY SOUL! Oooooh my God! I trust in thee, let me not be afraid let not my enemies triumph over me!

AAAAAH! You're right Rev. I've never in my life heard a praise song that quite does it like a psalm.

hahaaaaa i imagine God was chuckling along...God sings too, cuz He's delightful like that, as it is written that He rejoices over us with singing

praising GOd for another day, how're you?

Beautiful! Its FREEZING lol but its okay, I'll live :p

I have work today, and that's a praise report in itself, because we had a mechanical failure two weeks ago, and my poor boss got sent to the hospital the night it happened so he couldn't fix it.

Praise God for supplying ALL our needs! He's teaching me more and more to keep my focus away from using money to get the job done, and put it on allowing Him to work.

Good scripture for this Orthodox. We sing nearly everything. Our Divine Liturgy is sung.

awesome!!!! No wonder God loves singing so much. He is a singer Himself.
And thankfully not a critic of my cracking voice. How wonderful would life be if we sang every word we uttered? It would make arguing rather difficult.
While channel surfing, i came upon this very large black Roman Catholic Deacon giving a homily about serving God. He put it in the context of music and musical theory. It truly blessed me.
What (except for the touch of God) can bring you to joyful tears quicker than a song. What can bring you to the attitude of Praise faster? And for me, true worship is within the singing voice.
This is an area where I break ranks with some of my Liturgical brethren. So often in conversation with them i hear them poke fun at the evangelic calling their services "sing, sing, sermon" as they lack the Liturgy. But I feel the singing is on the right track. It can brings us quite quickly to the attitude of worship.

That is soooooo true. David was a musician and he sang. And yes, music and singing inexplicably reach parts of our hearts and souls that cannot be expressed but are powerfully effected.

Awesome song by the way. :)

Good morning all you happy Christian-type people!

I hear this is a thread where no fighting is allowed? Now if we do that will it be TEOTWAWKI? (The end of the world as we know it?) Or just the end of the internet? (TEOTI?) Maybe we'll need to get Al Gore over here to fix it?

So let me look through and see if it's really possible, what with all the debating and division and feuding and fussing ...

right now, 3 teenage boys downstairs and this song playing!
Whoooot!

Looks like Rev posted the same song today.

Looks like a proud Mama, and with good reason!? Congrats Mom!! That's a Proverbs 31 moment right there, that is.

And wait, we have an Orthodox Priest posting the same thing? (What's the word for that, not synergy but ...) Pretty sure this is the kind of stuff that tends to break chains off of prisoners via earthquake and such

"And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them. And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one's bands were loosed." (Acts 16:26)

Such IS the power of making melody in our heart, and, uh-oh, where does that verse go? Submitting ourselves to one another in the fear of the God.

Hmmm.

Almost like we should view one another as Holy or something? Still have work to do down here, that's for sure ...

Now I won't push my luck by posting Kenaniah by Petra, but it is on youtube and was never a hit so it wasn't played out but it's great music with great lyrics, even though it's a made up story rather than straight out of the Bible. At least I only find Kenaniah mentioned in 1 Chronicles 15 which isn't a battle at all, but here are some uplifting lyrics from it:

Kenaniah I believe yer voice appointed by the King
To teach the songs of Zion to lead them as they sing
Your song is not forgotten we hear it in our souls
Let it burn a fire within us let it fan the sacred coals

Gathered for the battle Kenaniah led the way
As the singers crossed the final hill they all began to pray
The musicians all assembled Kenaniah gave the word
Through the raging battle zone the anthem could be heard

Then there's this line from the second chorus:

And in the cloud of witnesses Kenaniah sings along

Isn't that great? And yes he does, because he led the singers as the Ark of the Covenant went into the temporary place David built for it.

So that song doesn't have the lyrics I was looking for, but is essentially the prequel to what I was thinking of:

Israel had a war to fight the Lord showed them the secret
He said the battle this day is mine but you must listen how to do it
put your singers first in front of the rest let them praise and sing to me
and you will see the Salvation of your God and watch your enemies flee

Brownie points to whoever can place that one with no peeking! And I know there is at least one Bible story that goes like this but I can't find it. Anybody know where it is?
