The head of the traditionalist Society of St Pius X has called Jewish people “enemies of the Church”, saying Jewish leaders’ support of the Second Vatican Council “shows that Vatican II is their thing, not the Church’s”.

Bishop Bernard Fellay, the society’s superior general, said those most opposed to Rome granting canonical recognition to the SSPX have been “the enemies of the Church: the Jews, the Masons, the modernists”.

He said these people, “who are outside of the Church, who over centuries have been enemies of the Church”, urged the Vatican to compel the SSPX to accept Vatican II.

I sympathize with ordinary sspxers, but this guy is not helping his cause.

I am not a Catholic but have a question about this. To begin, we know the spirit of the anti-Christ denies Christ as John explains.

If there are people who deny Christ, this is the spirit of the anti Christ speaking through them, right? Or is this the wrong way to see it?

The logical conclusion would be if any person, including a descendant Jew, denies Christ, this would be considered the spirit of the anti Christ? Or no.

If the answer is yes, then why are believers Jew advocates? The Jews are not believers.

But I think the priest in Michie's post says that Jews are an enemy of the Church. Jewish is not a race, right? Its just a religious and cultural identity. Israelite is the nationality of people descending from Israel not Jew.

Really I wouldn't say "enemy"
I'd call atheists an enemy of the Church, I'd call some Catholics enemies of the Church even.

Enemy is a harsh word to apply to Jews since they are not enemies with the Church as in trying to make the Church obsolete, or cast Her out of the world.

You bring up a good point, enemy is a harsh word to use and if an enemy we are called to love them regardless.

Even if they are not trying to cast them out, this religion denies Christ, right? So do we say the Jewish religion has the spirit of the anti Christ?

Have you ever read how Muhammad came about his revelation so as to become Allah's prophet?
Or the character of Muhammad himself?

If God was going to pick a prophet he'd have picked one that wasn't a low life, don't you think?

I am not well read on Muhammad, but I do know what God's prophets endured in the OT, I don't think anyone of them were standing in line to become one, they were hated persecuted and suffered greatly.

My opinion is that there really are no races, but that's neither here nor there.

Jew comes from a shortening of Judah, the region of the world Jews are from. Remember that the Northern Kingdom, Israel, was carried away and only the Southern remained so it is only from Judah that the people came from. Jew has granted common use so there isn't often any sort of separation between it and any other term. In fact, that only people I see playing the name game once it is explained are those who are enemies of the Jewish people.

The SPLC is a very untrustworthy organization. They have added groups like the Family Research Council on the list of hate groups just for their opposition to same-sex marriage. There are many other examples of them unfairly labeling organizations "hate groups."

I do not view myself as the enemy of the Church. I do not want to join it, but I am not against it either. Yes, I have different opinions, but I would hope most people don't hold a "if you aren't with us, you're against us" idea. It's dangerous.

Which Jews, which Jewish organizations, and how have they been trying to hurt the Christian faith? If we're going to lay some claims on the table, I would like to see them face-up and be able to see what we're discussing.
