CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The YEC truth? The OEC truth? The GAP truth? The TE truth? The ID truth? The Catholic truth? The Baptist truth? The Presbyterian truth? The Anglican truth? The Mormon truth? The Orthodox truth? The Lutheran truth? The Latter Day Saints truth? The Charismatic truth? I could go on forever.
When you tell me why one is the "truth" and the other is a "lie" I will start paying attention.

You want me to go over this AGAIN? YEC covers the last 6,000 years. Gap covers the last 12,982 years. OEC covers all the way back to the beginning, that would pretty much be the last 12 Billion years or at least the 4.6 billion years the earth has been around. They simply do not over lap. They cover what they cover and that is it.
The body is made up of many parts, hand, feet and so on. You seem to think everyone should be a hand or everyone should be a foot. It simply does not work that way. Never has, never well. Anyways, I am sorry you do not understand. I really am, but I got to tell you, it is not my problem. Your lack of understanding is your problem, not mine. I realize this is something you struggle with, but that is good. This will make you stronger. Just like they say: "[FONT=Verdana, sans-serif]Do NOT help your chicken out of its shell!!! Jesus is the way, truth and life. He not only is the best Teacher that ever lived. He lived the life as an example for us to follow. No one recommends that people follow my example. We need to get out of the way so we can point the way to God. We need to take the focus off of ourselves so people can focus on seeking after God and His truth.

There is only one Jesus, follow Him. There is only one truth, seek to know the truth. No one can teach the truth. You have to discover the truth for yourself. No one can do that for you. It would be nice if we could hire someone to do it for us. But is simply does not work that way. You could send your slave to school for you, but then you take a chance on you becoming the slave and them the master. We are told you shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free.

What in the world does this have to do with believing the Bible to be true?
In any case, I sow much more good by being a nice atheist than I would if I was a jerk who believed the Bible.

There were lots of people trying to build the first airplane. The Wright brothers got the job done because they had the right formula. The fact of the matter is the Bible works. IF you do what the Bible says to do, you will get the results the Bible says you will get. If you study covenant theology then you will know that we have a covenant with God. IF you do your part of the deal, then you can be sure that God will do His part. If you do not do your part,then do not be surprised if you receive nothing from God.
The Bible tells us how to sow good. If there were no Bible you would not even know what good was. When you say: "believed the Bible" I get the feeling your talking about a belief in what people say the Bible says, rather then for you to read, study and learn the Bible yourself. So you do not have to depend on others to do that for you.

So why don't we see mountains moving after people pray for it? (Evasion of the issue in 3, 2, 1...)

I just do not know what to do with you because you just do not seem to understand the most simple of concepts. YEC ONLY talks about the last 6,000 years. That means I AM a YEC. I am also a GAP because GAP talks about 6,000 to 12,982 years ago. I am also a OEC, because OEC talks about everything going back to the begining. What Science claims is 4.6 billion years ago.
The amazing thing is that Genesis talks about ALL THREE all at the same time. Have you ever been to Utah? Have you ever skied? IN the State of Utah they have MANY different words that they use for snow. IN Flordia snow is snow. In Utah the Skiers want to know what kind of snow it is.

SO if one word can have MANY multi meaning. Then language and the symbolism we find in language can have MANY multiple meanings. That means everyone can be right. Perhaps you could start with a study on the use of Shadows and Types in the Bible, then you could take it from there.

The sermon on the mount is not my truth. Jesus preached that sermon. Do you not agree that people should follow the teachings of Jesus? I suppose the anti christ would say not to follow the teachings of Jesus. For the most part I was under the impression that people believe that Jesus was a good teacher and that we should all follow His teaching. I was under the impression that people like you are upset because Christians are not Christ like enough to make you happy. Did you not weigh in with the opinion that your more Christ like then we are. That you follow the teachings better then we do? That you are in effect more good then we are?

Putting words in my mouth now? How about you back them up with facts? Please, quote any post where I said I was "more like Christ" than anyone else, or that I "followed Christ's teachings" better than anyone else. If you are unable to do that, I will assume you are raising false accusations.
As far as telling who anybody should or should not follow, I am not here to do that. I will leave things like that to those who think their beliefs are "the truth".

Except that YEC says that nothing existed before 6000 years ago. OEC and GAP says that things DID exist prior to 6000 years before now. So the two contradict.
Irrelevant. None of these are contradictory. the differences between YEC, OEC and gap are contradictory.

Snow is still just snow. Go to Texas and ask them how many different kinds of snow there is. Everyone use to tell me that fresh powder snow was the best. I did not like it at all. You have to keep your ski tips up or you will snow plow into the snow. Even though it is all just snow, there is up to 50 terms used to describe it. Is that a contradiction? Do people not agree with each other if they think one snow is different from another? Is there no God in Heaven if one person likes to ski powder and another person does not like to ski powder? According to the skeptics and scoffers because people like to ski on different kinds of snow and they have different terms that they use for snow than that is evidence for them that there is no God. If there was a God then everyone would all march to the beat of the same drummer. They would not be using different names for snow and wanting to ski different kinds of snow under different conditions. There would be no beginner, intermediate and advanced because everyone would be the same on the same trails. Clearly this is evidence that there is no God or he would not make people different like this. He would make them all the same, they would be all identical. Yet the Bible says we all make up the same body. Some are hands, some are feet, but we all work together. Evolution calls this a community or a population. They say the population evolves not the individual. Because of variations in the individual parts of the population. So really the skeptics and scoffers are hard at work trying to prove their own theory to be wrong.

No they are not, because they are not talking about the same thing. You want to say there is no God because there is variation between people. IF there was no variation then there would be no theory of evolution. Because your theory depends on that very variation that you say is evidence that God does not exist. Maybe God is real and it is your theory that does not exist. Your theory based on modification and change over time. Yet you do not want Christians to change and you do not want to see any modification or variation take place over time. Your just fighting to prove your own theory wrong and you may accomplish just that. For Christians to evolve and come to a better understanding for you is a contradiction.
