The Republican Party is reeling from defeat, what changes should they make?

How often do these people smoke? I drink alcohol from time to time, but never when I have to go somewhere and never when I have to be at work before noon.

Some people are responsible. Some people are not.

When I drink, I get mellow and a little inappropriate.

When I smoke pot, (which I haven't for 24 years) I get paranoid and loose connection with time passing.

Then weed is obviously not for you.

Thank you for your opinion. I am so glad to be able to be so useful to you. Do come again if you would like to insult without saying anything.

Janice
What I was responding to wasn't "saying anything." Here, I'll illustrate:

Because it does mess with your mind.
All drugs "mess" with your mind. Even chocolate. That's why people use them.

At least when you are drunk, you can still be coherent, just slowed down.
You have described people who are mildly intoxicated vs being heavily intoxicated, regardless of whether the substance used is alcohol or marijuana.

When you are stoned, if someone asks you "How are you?", you won't look at them weirdly and say, "How old am I?"

Janice
Once again, it entirely depends on the level of intoxication.

There is nothing in your post to suggest you have even a remote comprehension about what you are speaking about, and your later posts bear that fact out. Saying the post was ignorant was observation, not insult. When one does not know what they are talking about, they are ignorant of the subject.

What you are describing here is classic over-intoxication. This would be the equivalent of a someone drinking until they couldn't stand up, then later blaming the alcohol instead of their own inappropriate use of the alcohol.

It's been years since I've used myself, but when I did, I knew my limit, just as I do with alcohol. When I did use, I got mellow, but not inappropriate.

I had only smoked one joint to feel that way, and not even the whole thing. I was sharing with my husband. I don't ever want to feel that way again.

Sort of like what it feels like to lose a national election decisively to guy you think is inferior to you after you spent 1.2 Billion dollars of someone else's money and convinced them that you were going to win in a landslide ?

"One joint" of high-THC/CBN, low-CBD marijuana can be equivalent to a half-gallon of 40 proof whiskey for someone who hasn't built up a tolerance.

Oh, I don't know. Some of those herbs sure can rock you. And I never found comfort with what some dealers are willing to put in their marijuana, nor do I find comfort with how some of them dry their marijuana.

And, half-a-gallon? Honestly, how many rookies have you heard of that approached that much quantity of alcohol?

I've been a medicinal user for years and can't handle half a joint and I get the good stuff (California, indoor grown bud). Most of the time, a single bowl is too much.

Personally I think the Repubs need to do a few things:

1) Get back the minorities. I think it is a shame that the party that did the most to establish equal right for blacks has now become viewed as racists. Most blacks that I know are socially conservative God-fearing people and yet they vote for a party that has done nothing for them except keep them down.

2) Get back to a limited federal government. The federal government has to get out of the things it shouldn't be in. And there are alot of things that it is involved in that it shouldn't be in. In fact one thing I wished the Repubs would have the guts to do is the next time the federal government shuts down due to budgetary reason, is let it stay that way for a significant length of time to give people a understanding that they don't really need government for 99% of the time.

When the government shuts down only non-essential personal are furloughed. That should tell you something. I would love to see these non-essential personal layed off and told to go find a real job.

3) Reduce waste in all branches of the government.

4) Curtail the Regulations. I would love to see congress set down and go through every single regulation and law on the books and ask themselves the question is this really really necessary?

5) Stop giving money to countries who don't need it, so they can be our friends. Enough is enough. We don't have the money and we need to stop spending it like we do.

6) Cut all unnecessary spending on stupid things. Romney was right on one thing. Why are we supporting NPR, PBS, Planned Parenthood, etc. with taxpayer money? This makes no sense whatsoever. If these are worthwhile companies then get they need to get their money just like other companies do, by selling themselves. If they can't then by-by. If PBS closed tomorrow, you don't think that some television channel wouldn't pick Big Bird up if they felt they could get the viewers? Come on man.

7) In every single state the primaries need to be closed only to Republicans. Having an open primary is just well plain stupid.

Anyway I can go on and on and on. But what the Repubs don't need to do is become Democrat light. If they do, I hope the Tea Party becomes a legitimate third party. I know we won't win Presidental elections anytime soon, but I am tired of a Republican party who elects the worst candidates to run for President. Everyone but the Republican beltway folks new that out of all the candidates available Romney had the least chance of winning.

Yes, this can be a problem, one that decriminalization should address. Take the profit out of the hands of the criminals, and into local, licensed growers/sellers who's business thrive on good reputation and respectability. This is true, whether marijuana is legalized for medicinal use (my goal), or even for recreational use (not my first preference, but I do lean to the Libertarian side somewhat on this question).

And, half-a-gallon? Honestly, how many rookies have you heard of that approached that much quantity of alcohol?
That's kind of the problem. Some people demonize marijuana, and some people treat it like it's nothing. It's neither, but it is a drug, a medicine, and it should always be treated as such. If one is going to use it (hopefully legally), they should do so with education. The strength of the strain needs to be known, especially for someone new to it, otherwise it is worse then useless.

Well one good thing, at least one doesn't have to worry about dying from a marijuana overdose. It has been estimated that one would have to smoke about 8,000 joints within about an hour to reach a deadly amount of the drug. It's intoxication level however... Yea, it can be pretty potent, and some people are less tolerant to the effects than others. It should always be treated with respect, and like a medicine, not a candy.

It might be interesting to note that The Learning Channel used to be publicly funded as part of NASA, and now that it's privatized, it shows Honey Boo Boo.
Many children supplement their learning through television, and there should be quality television available to them. We want an educated people, not a country full of Honey Boo Boos.

Yeah, that channel has seriously gone down the drain. Same is true of Court TV; now Tru TV...and even that is a fallacy as they are guilty of staging their shows and using actors.

However, there are also more discovery, science, history channels out there now.

Yea, I considered using it for a back problem I was having a couple of years ago (standard medicines weren't helping), but even though it's legal in my state, I'm a contractor in IT, and many companies test for it. It just wasn't worth the risk/cost. Finally, a chiropractor was able to give me relief, after others had failed, so it's all good.

I actually used MJ (And yoga) so as not to have to go through back surgery.

I know several people who do. It has literally been a lifesaver for some of my friends and acquaintances.
