Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I get warnings and infractions from the more liberal police on this site...

Liberals looks for things to get offended about...they are the most closed minded folks around.

They scream freedom of speech...unless u don't agree with them, then they just want your posts deleted and/or banned.

Sorry had a moment there

I know the feeling. :sorry:

Amazing how off track this thread has become. It all started with a poor attempt at humor incorrectly attributed to a comedian. Now it's become the typical liberal bash-a-thon like most of the threads on CF. I think maybe the amount of bashing that conservatives do is perfectly balanced by the smashing retorts of the libs. Tit for tat.

May I ask Halossellar, as you have said it several times? Where do you get your information that it wasn't written by Foxworthy?

Next time I won't credit anything with a person. I'll just print it and then maybe liberals will have to deal with the words instead of obsfuscating.

In keeping with the Foxworthy theme:

Pandelirium
a combination or misusage of pandemonium and delirium. This word was coined by Jeff Foxworthy

Redneck woman describing a tornado:

"It was pandelerium! We could have been killed or worse! And all I could think while Carol's house flew over mine was 'She still has my casserole dish!!'"

^_^ Fox viewers most misinformed. Straight out of the mind of Olberman or Whoopi or Biden or Soros or Ted Turner or Jeanne Growlawful, or, or, or.

When I started watching Fox News it was like a breath of spring, like a rescue ship pulling me out of the ocean, like a shot of penicillin after being really sick.

Misinformed. Ha!

There's nothing to deal with--the words are crap. End of story.

Funny because it's about "rednecks?" I can laugh at it because I'm (in the words of Jerry Clower) down here amonst them. I am them so it is easy to laugh. Should I attribute your laughter to ridicule of rednecks as some attribute laughter of the OP to mean spirited Republicans? And, why do you assume Foxworthy really, really wrote that joke?

As for the "words are crap," you're wrong. The words in the OP are true and point out the difference in the two under discussion.

Well it wasn't written by Napoleon either, but I'll have a hard time finding evidence to back that up. Foxworthy wouldn't write anything so politically biased and sophomoric. If he wrote a list like that, it would be funny to both parties. He's a pretty good comedian, although apparently not too well versed in politics.

I think the only problem with your post is your refusal to back down on its authenticity. I don't think it's very funny even if I look at it objectively, but I would have never commented had you not said it came from a famous person. That's the only reason it is being forwarded via email. It's not funny on its own, but mention that Jeff Foxworthy wrote it and it is given a bit more panache.

No one likes to be proven wrong on here, but you look much worse if you defend something that is obviously a mistake. The first thing us evil liberals do is to look for a mistake in anything posted by a conservative. Once we find it, we can dismiss the rest of the post even if it contained other points that were actually valid. I'm one of the few on here who admits to mistakes in my posts. When I do, I hope that the other side is forgiving, but usually they are sore winners. It reflects on both our characters fortunately, and so I look good in comparison.

Recently, while I was working in the vege beds in the front yard, my neighbors stopped to chat as they returned home from walking their dog. During our friendly conversation, I asked their little girl what she wanted to be when she grows up. She said she wanted to be President some day.

Both of her parents, liberals, were standing there, so I asked her, "If you were President what would be the first thing you would do?"

She replied... "I'd give food and houses to all the homeless people." Her parents beamed with pride.

"Wow...what a worthy goal!" I said. "But you don't have to wait until you're President to do that!" I told her.

"What do you mean?" she replied.

So I told her, "You can come over to my house and mow the lawn, pull weeds, and trim my hedge, and I'll pay you $50. Then you can go over to the grocery store where the homeless guy hangs out and give him the $50 to use toward food and a new house."

She thought that over for a few seconds, then she looked me straight in the eye and asked, "Why doesn't the homeless guy come over and do the work, and you can just pay him the $50?"

I said, "Welcome to the Republican Party."

Then you may have a better chance to learn then most of us. You have to go out to search for information and form your own opinions. Others in my position (TV viewers) have to sift through, discarding and saving it along the way.

I must admit I would have a very difficult time adjusting to no television or only local stations. I'm on the internet at work and home most of the day and enjoy down time with shows I record for that purpose.

I just finished the "24" TV series through NetFlix and have to say it was the BEST serious TV show I have ever seen. Absolutely habit forming. I told my daughter, who is just on the first season, that last show was like seeing the last piece of the best chocolate you ever tasted being offered to you. Knowing that once you took it it would never be replaced.

Oh well, maybe rabbit ears would be a good thing for a TV addict. ^_^

Halossellar's take on the differences in the two parties. Funnier and truer.

If a Democrat reads about a mass shooting, he wants all guns outlawed.
If a Republican reads about a mass shooting, he buys more guns.

If a Democrat is a vegetarian, he doesn't eat meat.
If a Republican is a vegetarian, he wants all vegetables deported.

If a Democrat is homosexual, he quietly leads his life.
If a Republican is homosexual, he hides in the closet and bashes gays anyway.

If a Democrat is down-and-out, he thinks about how to better his situation.
A Republican yells "They took our jobs!"

If a Democrat doesn't like a talk show host, he switches channels.
Republicans demand that those they don't like be shut down. (Oh come on, this one was absurdly inverted in the original list)

If a Democrat is a believer, he goes to church.
A Republican believer wants any mention of anyone else's God and religion silenced.

If a Democrat decides he needs health care, he goes about shopping for it, or may choose a job that provides it.
A Republican says "I got mine, you get yours!"

If a Democrat reads this, he'll chuckle and then delete it because he doesn't need validation from others to know what to believe.
A Republican will post it on Christian Forums and attribute it to Ahmadinejad.
This is far better than the reply I had planned!!
^_^

But I'll post it anyways:

I'm not offended that anyone forwards false emails. But the person forwarding should be ashamed. And the person writing them is usually a liar. I say this after soooo many years of reading email forwards. They are false 90% of the time (my own personal subjective estimate!) and simply shouldn't be encouraged.

When I get garbage like that in my inbox...I just hit 'delete' and move on with my day. My advice to anyone is to do the same for the sake of your own integrity.

See whitestone12? Is it possible to make fun of liberals and be mildly amusing at the same time. Keep in mind that I do have SNL Weekend Update in my corner and they top the best comedians from your party any day.

I've been looking to see if Foxworthy is the author of this piece in the OP. WHat I've found are several thousand reposts of this all attributing it to Foxworthy, and one post from Dec 2009 with no attribution to anyone. Anyone else been able to verify the author or is still just conjecture at this point?

This is just so funny. All this blather about Foxworthy didn't write it and yet when I ask you why you say that with such passion your reply is:

LOL. You think Foxworthy didn't write it because you think Foxworthy didn't write it. Priceless admission of a liberal mind.

Remember, I provided the ABC article stating that Foxworthy, who usually doesn't take part in political things, has backed Romney and is being vocal about it.

In my experience, liberals are more quick to take offense... on someone else's behalf...

My experience is that a lot of my liberal friends take offense on the behalf of others when no offense was intended or even implied. The perfect example is the never ending charges of racism
