Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Thank you for commenting.

Have you met any Christians that are part of what we call the underground Christian Church in China?

What do you know about Christianity?

I responded on your other tread, but could easily talk with you here. I very much want to know more about you. My son is going to Beijing next month to meet his girlfriend’s family to ask for her hand in marriage. I have ties to Christians in China, but they do not want me to make it public. I also work with people here that are working with the Minister of Religion in China to try to take the next step to improve the Government sponsored Christian Church (it has improved but it is still like a social club).

In a secular state, religion should be managed, so I do not support the underground church

Jesus had a very different answer. The Jewish Spiritual leaders came to Him, knowing He could not give an answer that would not get him in big trouble with the people (the people were dead against paying taxes to Rome) or the Imperialist Government of the time controlling Jerusalem at the time (saying you should not pay the tax could get him killed by the Romans).

Here is the verses in the Bible and the unbelievable wisdom in Jesus’ answer:

Mark 12: 13 Later they sent some of the Pharisees and Herodians to Jesus to catch him in his words. 14 They came to him and said, “Teacher, we know that you are a man of integrity. You aren’t swayed by others, because you pay no attention to who they are; but you teach the way of God in accordance with the truth. Is it right to pay the imperial tax to Caesar or not? 15 Should we pay or shouldn’t we?”
But Jesus knew their hypocrisy. "Why are you trying to trap me?” he asked. “Bring me a denarius and let me look at it.” 16 They brought the coin, and he asked them, “Whose image is this? And whose inscription“Caesar’s,” they replied.
17 When Jesus said to them, “Give back to Caesar what is Caesar’s and to God what is God’s.”

And they were amazed at him.

I disagree.... In a secular state government should stay out of sanctioning or discouraging religious belief.

That being said, that freedom extends to people, and churches having the freedom to believe what they want to believe. They do not have the right to act how they want to act, especially when it comes to trampling civil rights.

China to respect people's religious beliefs.China has a legitimate church, instead of the underground church.

Well, to be honest... if they respected everyone's religious beliefs they'd allow people to follow whatever religion they want to. There wouldn't be a need for any church to be underground.

Yeah, I'm aware of the situation over there.... I was just making the observation that if they had true religious freedom, then there wouldn't be any need for underground churches and whatnot.

China has a lot of religion, monotheistic exclusivity against other religions, so it is necessary to control

Right, but the point I'm making is that it's not truly free. People don't have the choice to join any religion they want to and expect equal treatment.

There are many religious people, they are free to choose their own religious beliefs.China's website, you can often see the debate between all religions.
