Nevertheless, we acknowledge the inward illumination of the Spirit of God to be necessary for the saving understanding of such things as are revealed in the Word, and that there are some circumstances concerning the worship of God, and government of the church, common to human actions and societies, which are to be ordered by the light of nature and Christian prudence, according to the general rules of the Word, which are always to be observed.

8._____The Old Testament in Hebrew (which was the native language of the people of God of old), and the New Testament in Greek (which at the time of the writing of it was most generally known to the nations), being immediately inspired by God, and by his singular care and providence kept pure in all ages, are therefore authentic; so as in all controversies of religion, the church is finally to appeal to them. But because these original tongues are not known to all the people of God, who have a right unto, and interest in the Scriptures, and are commanded in the fear of God to read and search them, therefore they are to be translated into the vulgar language of every nation unto which they come, that the Word of God dwelling plentifully in all, they may worship him in an acceptable manner, and through patience and comfort of the Scriptures may have hope.

10.____The supreme judge, by which all controversies of religion are to be determined, and all decrees of councils, opinions of ancient writers, doctrines of men, and private spirits, are to be examined, and in whose sentence we are to rest, can be no other but the Holy Scripture delivered by the Spirit, into which Scripture so delivered, our faith is finally resolved.

If I had my choice, it would be either the New Hampshire Confession of Faith of 1833, or the Abstract of Principles (1858).

Although sometimes I use the Philadelphia Baptist Association Confession of Faith of 1742.

Plus, as I said before, newer is not always better.

In 1858, James P. Boyce founded Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, then located in Greenville, SC. In order to teach there, you had to sign and agree to teach according to and not against the "Abstract of Principles" of 1858.

It is still the standard of the Seminary today, some 154 years later!

they were not justified when they were elected? the election was incomplete and there was something left to do? I like pauls quote that all that he did was so that the elect could obtain salvation. If a King gives a condemned man a pardon but the pardon doesn’t reach the condemned man for a few days, or even months, when does the pardon actually take place? Does the pardon depend on the decree from the King to pardon or the condemned man’s apprehension of it? Just a thought.

no you have completely walked around the question I asked. For Paul did not say that he did all that he did so that israel might obtain but that the "Elect" might obtain salvation also!

they were not justified when they were elected? the election was incomplete and there was something left to do? I like pauls quote that all that he did was so that the elect could obtain salvation. I never understood how if one has been determined to be in before time begin, why do they need to OBTAIN salvation. would you have a explanation on this ?

Paul is telling us he is suffering to bring the Gospel to God's elect so they, like him, will be saved.

Don't shoot the messenger. I just found the verse. Doesn't mean I support his view, though as you know I call myself a 4.5 point Calvinist, or normally say I follow no doctrine but Christ's.
