Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Universe is not homogeneous as far as we know

Okay. How do we verify this knowledge?
Go back in time and talk to Peter and Paul. If you can't, then be reasonable, and do not question the holy record for no reason. Stop trying to set yourself up as judge and jury of the past. You barely know your way around the present!
Do you even know what parsimonious means?
Explain, as applied to something relative in the thread...

Given that the link is broken and you said nothing about it, that proves that you don't even bother to click on them. You must be very arrogant if you can dismiss something without even looking at it.
The comments were dismissed, not bogus links. Lurkers that took you seriously can find out how good your links are.

You have access to a time machine? No? Does anyone? Show of hands, come on, who has access to a time machine? No one? No? Okay, so it looks like this isn't a method of verifying the Bible.

Explain, as applied to something relative in the thread...

First, you tell me what you think it means (I suspect that you will have to look it up, because you presently don't know). After you do that I will explain it as per something in the thread.

And what part of that particular comment was worthy of dismissal? I can't imagine what part, because the entire comment was providing you with the link.

Right, so you admit you have none. So can you verify last Thursday? Explain how the records differ...

Come on now. Just do it. I looked up the silly word many times in the past.

Easy. The link contained 'theory of the mind'. It seemed silly. Now demo some mind power and next time, some lurker might click on your dead links!

Things that happened last Thursday have a demonstrable effect that could only have come about if it actually happened. Name one thing we see in the world around us that we can verify to be true that could only have happened if Peter and Paul existed.

Come on now. Just do it. I looked up the silly word many times in the past.

I think you are faking it. Come on, prove me wrong. Tell me what the word means.

Easy. The link contained 'theory of the mind'. It seemed silly. Now demo some mind power and next time, some lurker might click on your dead links!

It seems silly, so that means it is dismissable? Wow, this is great! Your idea about the laws of the universe being different in the past seems silly, so I can dismiss it! HA! Your argument is dismissed! I win! Try again? It's still silly! I win again!

So demo it then? What happens that has a demonstrable effect last week? The prophesies Jesus fulfilled could only be fulfilled by Messiah. The people that touched and ate with Him, and knew Him, and seen and heard Him had a demonstrable effect on the world, the calendar, and on billions of people.

The fact I booked train tickets for my holiday trip away proves it, because I currently have them in my hands.

Your example? Well, we weren't there to see the prophecies made, and we weren't there to see them fulfilled. Who knows what happened.

That is just silly. In no way can one apply that to knowing the state of the past.

I'm not asking anything about the past. I am asking you to tell me what you think parsimonious means.

Yes. When people are into mind games or glorifying man's mind, I haven't a lot of time for that. God is high above man, as the clouds are high above earth.

So you think that if something seems silly to a person, then that person should dismiss the silly-seeming thing?

Of course you can, and you do not even need to look at whether the bible agrees. But the problem for you is that you may not dismiss it with science or authority, or evidence or knowledge.

Again, you show how truly ignorant of science you really are.

Post some repeatable empirical evidence that your religion is correct and I'll stop making the distinction.
I never said I could.

But neither can you post repeatable empirical evidence as to how life originated; so don't call mine "religion" and yours "science" and expect me to agree.

Yeah. Repeatable evidence. Only what I;ve been asking for the entire thread, and still not received!
Let us know when you get something that satisfies you.

In the meantime, try and satisfy us as well with your religion, k?

Last Thursdayism. Real people saw stuff.

One can't apply it to the unknown laws of the future, can one?

So you think that if something seems silly to a person, then that person should dismiss the silly-seeming thing?
No. But I reserve the right:)

Again, you show how truly ignorant of science you really are.
Great, so enlighten us all on what I missed in your opinion..?

It proves that events from the past have a demonstrable effect in the present.
The topic is not the last month, or century here. Invalidated.

Nope. You have a story that says some people (who may or may not have been real) saw some stuff.
Since they saw Greece rise and Rome, and a lot of things that we all saw, your point is moot.

Fine, I'll take this to mean that you are completely ignorant about what parsimonious means.
Not at all. Let's not pretend that the meaning of the word somehow supports any set of laws and forces in the unknown past. Be honest.

That different radio dating techniques giving similar results is evidence that the laws governing the universe have not changed.
False. It is evidence that wrong assumptions are applied across the board.

I was wondering if you thought that the contradictory nature of these posts might contribute to them not being taken seriously?
I doubt very seriously that absolute agreement would make a difference.

We'd be accused of collusion and brainwashing.

Case in point, we believe Jesus is God; what kind of impact does that have on you?
Speaking of post counts - did you see that? I'm over 600! That's more than 100 posts than I have ever made at any other site, combined, on any topic.
I'm seriously impressed.

Glad you broke your record here and not somewhere else --

Again, I think you are posting in haste. Where did I use the word 'absolute'?
We'd be accused of collusion and brainwashing.
You might be accused have having more than just religion.

Case in point, not all of those that refer to themselves as 'Christians' believe that Jesus is God.

And, what is 'God'?

But it IS the past. Not invalidated after all.

Your wild clutching at straws amuses me.

Since they saw Greece rise and Rome, and a lot of things that we all saw, your point is moot.

You saw the rise of Greece?

There is outside evidence for that, anyway. There is none for what you are claiming.

Not at all. Let's not pretend that the meaning of the word somehow supports any set of laws and forces in the unknown past. Be honest.

You haven't said anything that indicates you have the slightest idea what parsimonious means.

False. It is evidence that wrong assumptions are applied across the board.

How so?
