  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

common fallacy . my observation does not agree with your doctrine so i am therefore prooftexting . but Jesus not only prooftexted he took passages completely out of context and made them truth standing on their own . much to learn from Jesus about reading the bible .

Hate to break it to you, but your not Jesus. Jesus inspired the bible and He can do what He wants with it, you cannot.

I recall seeing this passage that says

Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. (1 Corinthians 13:8-13)

Of the things that remain i do not read "holiness" and i do not read "fear" .

So i'm immature and growing, Praise the Lord for opening my eyes. I'm grown up enough to see this. But accusing someone that they are immature and spouting off how mature you're in the process just shows immature love, doesn't it? If one is mature they need not lord over others in their maturity, they love them instead by building them up, not tearing them down.

I am Co-heir with Christ, i have the mind of Christ, the Holy Spirit leads me into all truth, i see what Jesus did and I do greater things because he went to the Father, not only is this written, it is evident by what i see him doing in my life . your argument has no basis for being correct .

I'm growing too . my appeal is . i would like to keep growing and not be restricted based on previous ways of thought . must forget what is behind and take hold of what is ahead of me .

I am maturing as well and want to keep maturing and not be restricted by my previous ways of thinking, which were worldly and served my flesh and not my spirit.
I see maturity as continually seeking love and holiness by forsaking works of the flesh and bearing fruit of the Spirit instead. This is what we're taught to do isn't it?

I know the subject of this post is NOT maturity, however, is it allright if I share on that topic real fast before jumping back into the original OP?

I see maturity as dealing with ALL areas of our lives. Spiritual maturity in Him DOES mean love and fruit. In fact, without these all the other stuff doesn't matter. However, we don't stop at love and fruit, but we also seek to grow in maturity in matters of knowledge and wisdom. I think it's in Hebrews where the author says that there is so much more he wants to share with them, but can't because they are still on the foundational matters -the 'milk' rather than the 'meat'. So God is calling us up higher in areas of knowledge too.

Maturity in knowledge/wisdom AND maturity in fruit/love are both essential to growing in the Lord.

And as a P.S. Sometimes it DOES take thinking outside of the way we've always learned to dig deeper in the whole of Scriptures and theology. I had to think outside my background denomination to get to where I am now, but hopefully in doing so I have not compromised the Scriptures in any way. My goal isn't to go outside the Scritpures, it's to understand God more clearly throughout the whole of the Scriptures.

I just think that people get discouraged by hearing that they are immature for fearing god, Godly fear is good and wise. If we love one another we can encourage each other without calling each other babies. Better to be a baby in Christ then an adult in the world. Jesus is the author and finisher of our faith, lets leave it up to Him. If i'm just taking things wrong then forgive me, my hope is for encouragement, because i have been discouraged by others and know how it feels, i've done my share of discouraging others as well i'm sure. I'm concerned when i hear people say the bible is idolatry and say all things are pure, it can be deceiving to people trying to seek holiness in the fear of God.

You are being disobedient because the Savior did tell you to fear God:

Luke

12:4-5 "I tell you, my friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body and after that can do no more. But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear him who, after the killing of the body, has power to throw you into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear him."

God is Holy, and you should fear Him. You are also in error brother when you say that some verses trump others. By stating that you are saying the bible contradicts itself and you make foolish the work of the Holy Spirit.

The fear that we should have towards God is a filial fear, which is one of reverence.

Hebrews 12:28

Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear:

The fear 1 John 4:18 is referring to is a slavish fear referred to in Romans 8:15:

"For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, "Abba, Father."

The distinction requires discernment, and that comes from the Spirit. To apprehend it, you need to follow the conviction of the Holy Spirit and repent.

So do i fear God? no .

Why not? because He doesn't want me to fear him . no point in being disobedient .

When the word becomes flesh in you, you cannot become disobedient, because love is complete in you, you are truth, what people see in you is the mystery of ages, the hope of glory, you no longer live but Christ within, so what fear is there?

and since i can do nothing without Jesus Christ,

And since i do all things through Christ who Strengthens me

and since it is no longer i who sin but the sin within me that sins ..

what am i?

Am i?

how can i fear?

do i even exist?

why does this not scare me?

because in his love i am secure . and have confidence on the day of judgment .

.

No, its us who sin. That doesn't sound like the narrow road, it sounds like the wide and easy one bro. What should we pray that God forgive us for if we don't sin?

We can do nothing apart from Jesus, that's true. Here is what He said:

John 14:15

"If you love me, you will obey what I command."

He commanded that we are to fear God. You are disputing the words of the Lord, and putting your wisdom above His. You need to repent of this arrogance.

Address this scripture in your next reply:

Luke 12:5

But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear him who, after the killing of the body, has power to throw you into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear him.

When the word becomes flesh in you, you cannot become disobedient, because love is complete in you, you are truth, what people see in you is the mystery of ages, the hope of glory, you no longer live but Christ within, so what fear is there?
