  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What is your opinion?

My husband and I are Jews who came to Christ 18 and 13 years ago, respectively. We have chosen to attend a Baptist Church rather than a Messianic congregation. I have always had the feeling that other Completed Jews look down on this choice. Am I correct?
Thanks!

Care to share your reasons why you chose the Christian church path Pursuetruth?
Many Jews in Messianic congregations started out in churches before being called to Messianic Judaism. Many were convinced when they became believers that they were no longer Jews but now Christians and needed to find a church and the church sad to say did and still does not offer to help Jewish believers maintain their Jewish identity.

I would recommend listening to this session, given by Boaz Michael last November... it is entitled, 'Reformation Reloaded' here is it's link... Reformation Reloaded | Beth Immanuel Sabbath Fellowship

It's my understanding that most Jews who become Christians go to regular churches not messianic congregations.

My answer would be, why worry about what other Christian Jews think about you?

Thanks for your replies so far. A "completed Jew" as I know it is simply a Jew who acknowledges Christ as the Messiah.
My husband came to Christ through a friend, and his friend attends this particular Church. My husband is very invested in that friendship and we have had many good years at this particular Church. I led a women's Bible study for 13 years there that was an amazing blessing.
Why worry about what other Christian Jews think of me? I ask myself the same question, LOL. I guess I feel a bit of guilt for not fully embracing my Jewish culture. My (Jewish, non-Believer) father is dying and it's stirring up some old thoughts.

Have you attended an MJ congregation service in the past?
If you want to keep your jewish cultural upbringing, why not attend either/or an MJ or orthodox Jewish service also? Thanks

Certainly not! I don't. I meet with other Hebrew Christians once a month. Only one of us goes to a Messianic congregation- and we all are fine with each others calling to wherever we serve.

Embrace your culture. Stay friends with your family as your conduit into our culture, and respect their beliefs, regardless. Works for me.

'Completed Jew' sounds pretty condescending to me and probably to most mainstream Jews as well.

All the others are 'incomplete?' Would you say that to their faces?
Is that any different than how the RCC views those outside of it's Denomination as "defective". :groupray:

Orthodox Heritage
The Papacy and Its Unholy State: A Worldwide W a k e - u p C a l l to Orthodox Leaders

On July 10, 2007, Pope Benedict XVI reasserted the "universal primacy" of his Roman Catholic church, approving a document released on Tuesday, July 10, 2007, proclaiming that Orthodox Churches are "defective."
This was the Pontiff’s latest manner of insulting Jesus Christ and His True Church...............

Yes,all others are incomplete because they have not accepted Christ and received forgiveness of sins and on their way to heaven. Would it be better to pretend the unsaved Jews are alright while they are headed for hell? Christians should never act condescending, however people who do not believe they are lost certainly do not believe that they need to be saved.
