I purposely made no mention of defacing others property.

There are basically two choices regarding what to discuss in this thread - and ergo what we value more:

--- the piece of blasphemous, inappropriate contentographic crap put on public display or,
--- the woman who defaced it.

Why are people here more interested in discussing (and therefore more concerned with) what the woman did than what the so-called "artist" did (and those people who are permitting its public display)?

No one ever said you did. But legally speaking the artist did nothing wrong and she did. Easy discussion to have on that matter.

Consequences for ones actions, or art. Had he dared to put another religious icon in there, he would have to worry about his life, not just his..."art".
Again, this is called sacrificing for ones art. Its not just going hungry and scraping by, but facing the response to ones "art".

I find the color you chose to paint your house to be very offensive -- I think I'll burn it down.

You should've thought about the consequences before choosing such an offensive color.

The artist had every right to draw jesus and muhammed in sodomy if he felt like it...

And we have the right to take any and all legal action to oppose this offensive presentation that some call art!

I didn't realize there was violence involved. I thought she just destroyed the "art"? If she did physically attack the artist then I would not support what she did.

So you have no issues with the destruction of property?

So iconoclasm is good as long as it's not your icon?

The iconoclasts were opposed because they destroyed the holy icons of the Church. If there only intent was to go around destroying pictures of Jesus getting oral sex I doubt they would have been anathematized. I don't see this as related to the issue of Iconoclasm in the Church save maybe in the most remote and indirect manner.

So again -- it's ok to destroy things you don't like, but "holy icons" are off limits?

Freedom of speech was made for those people who have expressions that other people find offensive. You can always make your own art to counteract his.
...or speak out with what little freedom is left us against his "art."

Exactly what sort of "art" would counteract this inappropriate contentographer's "art?" What do ya do, create prurient Christian art??

Little freedom we have left? We can protest, boycott, put on our own exhibit. What we can't do is go into the art museum and destroy his property. I have no sympathy for the woman who did that whether or not I like the art in question.

Fine - we are, amid ridicule, rebuke, and nasty retorts. Exactly what sort of "art" would counteract this inappropriate contentographer's "art?" What do ya do, create prurient Christian art??
