  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

So who goes to hell?

Believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.

As Jesus said "Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned (katakriqhsetai)."

This isn't so much about the nature of hell, but rather how God determines who goes to hell.

There are some that will say to God "thy will be done" and then there are some that God will say to "thy will be done".

What determines who is saved and who isn't.

Ask God. Salvation is His prerogative.

Those who are unrepentant, who refuse God's gift of salvation, they will not be saved.

Who shall experience hell?

Don't know. I'm more concerned about my own salvation.

Short answer: Only He knows, and He hasn't told anyone. And I personally am skeptical of anyone who claims otherwise.

Christ, Paul, and John spoke about the types of people who won't be in heaven. Are you skeptical of them? There's nothing wrong with knowing what the bible has clearly told us.

God determines who is saved. I will not speculate how he judges people

But you must remember hell is when we separate ourselves from God.

The demons believe and yet they tremble. They shall be destroyed in hell fire. Not to be rude but I'm looking for an explanation with a little more substance.

I'm sorry if the words of Jesus don't have enough substance for you.

The word believe (pisteuó) comes from pistis; to have faith, to entrust -- I don't think demons do that.

sorry, but you're not going to be able to get much more specific 'those who believe in Christ'.

True Christianity really isn't overly complex, it's really very simple. Trying to overcomplicate it can only lead to heresy or reliance on human speculation.

I think I'll leave the decision as to who is saved and who isn't up to Christ. That is his place alone to decide, and I don't believe He likes it when we try to do His job. I think that is exactly what He meant when He warned us not to judge others.
