• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Have any of the creationists here done the following?

How's come Gaara got what I was saying [I think], and you didn't?

I haven't read the Necronomicon, yet I believe it is evil.

I haven't read about evolution, yet I believe it is wrong.

Exactly....

I'm sure you mean too vague.

You couldn't pick us out in a crowd, there are too many of us. You wouldn't recognize our names, nor is it important.

I am in Artificial Intelligence (computers) math is much more interesting than science. I've got my plate full without bothering with something as inexact as science.
You see, that's where you're wrong. It is important where creos get their information. Off by an inch, off by a mile.

If by "inexact," you mean ever expanding and changing as new information comes in, then yes, it is "inexact" in that regard. It is estimated that our knowledge of science doubles every fifteen years. Computer technology doubles every year!

ToE is arguably one of the most important theories (you should read this as fact) of modern thought. It is the unifying theory of all fields of science.

I understand that it is easier to believe a simple allegory, rather than actually educate one's self, as ToE is ever expanding, but if you actually took the time to read a real book on ToE, you would be amazed.

I'm going to go ahead and declare victory here since I'm not getting a response.
Gaara, I refuse to address the point that it's "my interpretation".

How I interpret the Bible is well-known, and is called the Grammatical-Historical Method.

Saying, "Well, that's your interpretation," is just another way of saying you think I'm wrong.

I'm not alone in "my interpretations".

Besides, whose interpretation do you want me to use?

I'm 52 for pete's sake! I can't remember the names of textbooks from 35 years ago! Get a grip!

That is fair. Nobody would expect you to.

If, however, you actually did read such books, and remembered the basics of what they said, you would find it hard to bring up the things we always see from creos as objections to evolution. i have never seen one yet that was not based on ignorance / misunderstanding of some sort. Never seen one that was not adequately addressed somewhere.

If you find a serious minded objection be sure to let us know. it will be the greatest scientific discovery of all time.

No thanks --- I'm not an Old Testament priest.

(I realize there's nothing sacred with you guys, but this is a new low.)

I thought you were the greatest scientific discovery of all time...

Sorry cheap shot... it is that "all knowing" tone you use, I have a hard time with it. That my short-coming, not yours.

You do understand that you have not proved anything about anything as well. You are wanting us to disprove something that hasn't been proven. I know there is a book you can read about that.

Indeed -- and yet, you still manage to get different results than other people using the same method.

Kind of like proving the existence of God?

Ignorance has no bounds, and is truly astounding when worn as a badge of honor.

Indeed, as I have said before -- ignorance and pride is a combination which never ends well.

Proving the existence of God vs proving evolution....that's your argument?

You'll get that a lot here.

Wait until you have several thousand posts, then someone shows up out of the blue acting like they know everything you've ever said.

Or someone with less posts than their IQ says something like, "But you said [insert the opposite of what you said here]"?

But what if the person in question admits that over several thousand posts, they've actually said very little?

Going back to whether or not scientific theories can be proven is kind of like going back to grade school, ok? Please?

Its like this. you get data together, then look for a way to explain it.
That is common enough in daily life. Science proceeds by developing theories and then trying to falsify them. If you cant falisfy it, well, its a pretty good theory. In many years and many tries, nobody has had any luck at all trying to disprove evoluution. It should be easy, if it is false, there should be mountains of proof.

Disproving god is quite different. So is proving god. There is no way to apply any data to it.

When you talk about how its impossible to prove evolution you are really just showing that you dont know enough about science to make a meaningful comment.

On both counts you're making baseless judgments.

Not mine sparky. Presupposing a "creator God" and ignoring actual physical evidence... is, well, ignorant. To suggest the physical and metaphysical are somehow on equal ground is absurd.
