  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Yeppers. Those are my thoughts, too. Because, I might be wrong in assuming this but, someone who likes guns and has guns is willing to take a life. Sure, under special circumstances, but willing to take a life nonetheless, and I don't understand how that can be reconciled with Christ's teachings.

The idea of liking knives is... am surprised by that. Same purpose, but more brutal. Am just very confused.

My husband and I had this discussion, too. While he believes that one should avoid killing when it is possible, he also considers it his duty and responsibility to protect the family. If I or our daughter were threatened, he would shoot. If he were called to military service, he would serve.

But primarily, he's in it for the target practice, and possibly for hunting when he gets better. He's really enjoying trap shooting.

I voted that I hate them. They have no purpose other than to kill, which is not something we need to do. It's not something God really likes, eh?

You can't do anything with a gun but destroy...can't even make a lamp out of one. So, no, I hate them...

For someone to actually LIKE weapons...well, I can't comprehend a mind like that...

vote will help confirm Obama's attack on us religious zealots who love their guns lol^_^

That's ok, it'll keep people off my lawn. :p :holy: JK!

Sorry FloatingAxe my friend - gotta do a disagree on this one.
I grew up with guns in my family, we did alot recreation shooting like skeet and shooting bottles and "sharpshooting"...

I have guns here at the house and feel much safer becuz my husband has to go out of town periodically and for a week at a time sometimes and I live in a more rural area.
We have coyotes and other wild animals that I might need to protect one of my pets from too - they come onto our property quite a bit.

There's good reason for guns - guns are like anything else that can be used as a weapon. A person can use a hunting knife in the boyscouts, or they can use the same knife to kill someone... they're neutral until in the hands of a person who has good or evil intent.

That's funny the people that think that God is against a Human being killing another human, that clearly isn't what Scripture teaches. Scripture is against Murder, huge difference.
(considering so many OT passages where God tells His people to kill their enemies incl. women & children)................

I'm not sure why you find people liking knives so odd... there are knife collectors who collect them as a hobby. It's seen as an art as well.

I personally find guns very visually beautiful - I absolutely LOVE the looks of automatic rifles & pure black pistols with a snub nose........
My husband's boss is a gun collector and has MANY guns in his collection from Germany.

Many collector's pieces and worth thousands of dollars.

HOT

UGLY yik

KOOOOOOOOOOL

I think this boils down to taste and balance in things. I don't much care about teddy bears & collector's plates or spoons or Holly Hobby porcelain thingies that so many women love to collect - I find that stuff silly and a waste of $$. (sorry if that offends any, I mean no disrespect)...

Give me a kool looking gun and I'm in heaven. We cannot help what we naturally like and I personally think that is God given in our different tastes and even viewpoints on things like this.

Personally I don't care if people think I'm wierd, I grew up as a Tomboy with 2 older brothers & hung out with them & their male friends - that is what I'm accustomed to. I don't relate to tea parties & teddy bears like alot of other women do who don't share my types of taste.

I LOVE the military - look at how many female soldiers there are. They don't hate guns either. They're pretty tough - tougher than I am that's for sure.
I think that's what makes the world go around.

I'm not all that liberal, but a gun-range date would be an off-putter for me. *laughs* It's a very strong statement of what interests you and what your political leanings might be, and that may be what you want to get across in a date. Personally, I don't know if I'd want to know that much about a guy early on in a relationship. I'd rather know about his work and his hobbies first. Of course, if shooting is one of your hobbies, that would fit in. I'm just sayin'...

I would like to get things out of the way, that way I don't waste my time or hers.

I can't respect a woman with differing political opinions from me. But thats just me.

That's fair & there's nothing wrong with that.

Personally, depending on where I met the guy, I think I'd prefer a nice dinner or lunch out first rather than hitting a gun range. lol

I think a gun range is better after you get to know each other a little more and establish a little bit more trust in one another; knowing each other's tastes etc.

A first date for me at a gun range when I have NO idea about him or his past might make me feel a little bit apprehensive when weapons are being used.

My uncle and his wife are avid gun enthusiasts, he has a gun collection, he hunts regularly, she's a sherrif's officer and belongs to gun clubs that do formal skeet shooting contests.

So.... I think if you aren't introduced to that, its a foreign world that can make you feel uncomfortable. But it's really a myth that guns are JUST for killing people & that freaks own guns - most gun owners are very responsible and love/value life.
It's more of a protection stance that they take than being aggressive violent poeple.

I didn't mean go to the Range on the first date...
^_^
Well... hey, there might be girls who like that as a first date - I would like to say that I would, but I have to be honest about it, I would feel some wierd apprehension becuz I haven't built a trust yet.

But ya, it would make for a fun date I think =0)

I wouldn't want to take a gal on the very first date to the range, I gotta know her for a while and know her temperament and personality.

If she is too girly, it might not be such a good idea handing her a powerful handgun.
