Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The vileness of the a.c.l.u. is documented.

Their hatred for the U.S. is legendary.

They should be arrested for Treason, and sentenced accordingly.

This is right and good.

The time to act is now, before we have not country left.
Freaking freedom... who needs it? Don't they know the Constitution only allows freedom of speech for popular views?

The ACLU was started by a self professed communist with teh stated goal of taking the US down from within the system.

Yes, they have done some good things but by and large they are against the values that created this nation.

Since you claim such "vileness" is "documented", would you care to produce some documentation highlighting such vileness?

Do you read the news? Their work to force a town in NM to take down the crosses in their city center, the town is called THree Crosses (if I remember right) and trying to force the removel of crosses and Christian symbols from veterans graves.

Have you heard about their attacks against CHristians in schools? Kids not being allowed to mention Jesus, or their at all, in school assignments?

For a short cut do a search on some the ACLJ (Amercican Center's for Law and Justice) and the cases they're fighting against the ACLU.

Seems they did manage to get over that. :)

uhmmm by fighting so unpopular voices can be heard? Protecting people from being silenced by those with more power? Trying to protect the rights of Christians to be able to preach on street corners or in parks?

They are against anything that can be construed as government endorsement of religion. However, they defend the free religious expression of individuals.

You'd better cite individual cases. They may go overboard sometimes, but all in all they're a great group.

The mission of the ACLU is to preserve all of these protections and guarantees:

Your First Amendment rights - freedom of speech, association and assembly; freedom of the press, and freedom of religion.

Your right to equal protection under the law - equal treatment regardless of race, sex, religion or national origin.

Your right to due process - fair treatment by the government whenever the loss of your liberty or property is at stake.

Your right to privacy - freedom from unwarranted government intrusion into your personal and private affairs.
**********************************************************
Some might consider ShieldOFaith's tirade against the A.C.L.U. as "vile," "hateful" and a "back-door" attack against every citizen's First Amendment Rights.

Unlike the "ShieldOFaiths" of this world who would have the rest of us arrested, tried and sentenced for TREASON as a misguided demonstration of American patriotism, its the A.C.L.U. that would defend HIS freedom of speech and religion, and OUR right to disagree with him.:groupray:

Well, that does seem to me to be a pretty blatant church and state entanglement violating the first amendment.

And I haven't heard anything about anything like that.

Really? Such as? It's kind of bad form to tell people to do research when you're the one propounding an idea.

Considering what I've been reading on CF lately those are all actually anti-American sentiments. Only True Christians TM who represent the Majority TM should be able to Voice the Truth TM in America TM.

How active their active attempts to censor Christians at every turn while giving every other faith group a pass?

Like defending equal access to school resources as other, nonreligious groups?

Student religious clubs in secondary schools must be permitted to meet and to have equal access to campus media to announce their meetings, if a school receives federal funds and permits any student non-curricular club to meet during non-instructional time. This is the command of the Equal Access Act. A non-curricular club is any club not related directly to a subject taught or soon-to-be taught in the school. Although schools have the right to ban all non-curriculum clubs, they may not dodge the law's requirement by the expedient of declaring all clubs curriculum-related. On the other hand, teachers may not actively participate in club activities and "non-school persons" may not control or regularly attend club meeting.

The Act's constitutionality has been upheld by the Supreme Court, rejecting claims that the Act violates the Establishment Clause. The Act's requirements are described in more detail in The Equal Access Act and the Public Schools: Questions and Answers on the Equal Access Act*, a pamphlet published by a broad spectrum of religious and civil liberties groups.

or ensuring students can distribute religious materials?

Students have the right to distribute religious literature to their schoolmates, subject to those reasonable time, place, and manner or other constitutionally- acceptable restrictions imposed on the distribution of all non-school literature. Thus, a school may confine distribution of all literature to a particular table at particular times. It may not single out religious literature for burdensome regulation.

or defending religious articles of clothing?

Religious messages on T-shirts and the like may not be singled out for suppression. Students may wear religious attire, such as yarmulkes and head scarves, and they may not be forced to wear gym clothes that they regard, on religious grounds, as immodest.

It really doesn't look like suppression to me
