How To Raise An Amazing Child the Montessori Way by Tim Seldin
-- I really really like this book!... more of it applies to toddlerhood and preschool years than babyhood, I can't remember if it gets into the infant ideas in this book which are basically, skip the crib and cosleeping and put your baby on a mattress on the floor, provide interestingly textured quality toys but not a ton, make the environment baby friendly rather than using playyards and container-devices (there I summarized all you need to know for the first year Montessori I think lol)

The Baby Book: Everything You Need to Know About Your Baby from Birth to Age Two (Revised and Updated Edition) by William Sears (Author), et al.
-- Its not bad, but I'm not loving it either, but then some new mothers like some kind of book about infanthood in which case this is as good of a choice as any ... I think I haven't really read a book on babyhood that I really call a must read though, actually check out the chapters on this one I am pretty sure he goes into pregnancy and birth in it, which might help you buy less books
