• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Ok, I understand now. BTW- avatars are downloading now. You chose Mary Poppins Miss Shelby? I'm shocked. Pushing unprescribed nasty meds on kiddies & then chasing it down with sugar.

She has a dark side.

I might have to report this....it's worse than Harry Potter, Bedknobs & Broomsticks & the like.

I fear for this forum!!!

Ok, kidding. Out of my system. Had a hellish night lastnight & I must take a nap.

You peoples be good & reform the report system. Openess of reporter will curb staff work..... just sayin. It's different when people have to take the anon mask off.

Agreed. The post 7/7/7 report system was great. The people with strong oppinions on matters hashed out the rules, everybody had fun and the board ran pretty smoothly, despite only having one or two Modas to handle things. Mad props should be given to Helen of Britain and DLF for holding this place together alone. They did a great job, and the open report system just flat worked. You could really get a feel for wqhat the board wanted back when everybody had a voice.

I've always maintained that it would make the mods job easier if posters refrained from being purposely raunchy.

No one has been able to explain to me how it is that an obscene symbol is appropriate for a Catholic forum.

I have been insulted a lot though.

Uhwell.

Tad, I agree. I didn't see the avatar but I would not recommend one flipping the bird either. I'm not a lover of millstones around the neck & I think we should be more sensitive to observers & seekers.

I love to joke though.

I did not mean to insult you. I'm running on fumes today.

The only posts I can remember ever reporting involve a couple of people who continually post slander about a certain Presidential candidate, the same slanders, repeatedly, over and over again, at spam levels. I doubt a PM asking them to edit their posts would do much good. Many of us have asked them to stop, numerous times, we've posted threads about it, polls, whatever. This is the only recourse we have left.

I'm not generally someone who likes to report things or have them reported, but sometimes a line is crossed so repeatedly and so unrepentantly, even after it's been discussed with the folks involved a gazillion times, that higher authorities occasionally need to be invoked.

I do want to emphasize that I have no personal issue with either of the folks involved. I actually kind of like them. It's just that if I read one more "Obama is Satan Incarnate" type of thread, I may be forced to throw my computer out a window.
Oddly enough... NV. Go figure.

Many of the anti-Catholics on this forum(and there's allot) say the same thing about the Pope. And it's constant - not just election time. No one complains though - at least not to the extent that the Obama statements seem to ignite.
When we care more about a dang politician then we do the pope... boy, says a lot.

I'm taken back by what some folks priorities have become.

I don't know. I feel like this "Obama is the anti-Christ" stuff is beginning to ruin this forum for everyone because it's done so many times, and it's done every day. A large majority of people want it to stop. Should we allow 2-3 people to run the rest of us off the forum because we just can't take it anymore? Or should we try to work towards some guidelines for basic civility so that everyone can enjoy the forum?
You are kidding, right?

The forum has been long ruined... your hero Bams has nothing to do with it... and the double standard is outrageous.

I'm just saying I know what I could expect if I asked her to remove it personally.

Can someone tell me what business an obsene gesture like that has on a Catholic internet forum?

This isn't about you or anyone in particular but it is about what just is.

No one can say any of us, myself included act as we ought, Michelle. Are you really proud of how you represent yourself? I'm not proud of my behavior at all.

Sure, you have human praise that fuels the fire but deep down, are you really pleased with yourself? If you say yes, I won't believe it.

I just do not know what's happened to anyone and don't say "life" because I'm not talking about that.

There is just no excuse for not having good manners. None what so ever. And we all should be ashamed.

No reason to be treating one another like this and no one feels convicted and that's the problem.

No one feels any obligation towards another. No one feels they need to think of others and how they are being perceived.

It is so sad and I know that it is the devil tempting all of us and we are falling for it.

There is another thing that is striking and that is all the depression. It's rampart and I don't find it a coincidence.

It does matter... we all influence one another and this bubble everyone lives in thinking that they can't be a negative influence and if they are, it's not their affair, needs to burst.

Everything we say here has an effect. We have no right because we are upset to bring other ppl down with us.

Bring people down? Geez.

Lemme tell you something. Back a few years ago, when this place glowed with the holiness of on line saints, everyone putting their best foot forward and talking about how they’d never let their daughters wear an alb and how they’d never receive communion in the hand, back in them days, it was depressing. Because first of all people could not have possibly been as perfect as they were pretending to be. Second, doofuses such as you and me thought they were. The bar, in my mind, was high, and I tried to reach it over and over, and often failed. That brought me down.

Now if I come here flippin peeps the bird, they can look at me and say ‘look at that woman, she’s an awful Catholic. Man, I am WAY better than her on my worst day.

And that wouldn’t and shouldn’t bring people down, it should cheer people up.

I was reported by ONE person for that bird. No one else had a prob with it. Tells ya something right there.

And don’t preach to me Michelle, you just had your own bone picking thread about being reported. Almost 200 posts long.
