My concern is biblically that CF should run without non-Christian's involvement of the administration. For a long time, I am for the non-Christians to moderate the non-Christian sections however, based on some exteme's attittude, I am thinking twice.

Jim, I could tell you countless believers who were pulled away from Christ in the non-Christian religion forum by non-Christians promoting their own religion. And that was with Christians mods watching over that area. that is an example of why there should only be Christian staffers. think of what will happen to that area in itself with non-Christian mods.. :sigh:

I think that would be a good rule to give your Christian mods as well.

Seriously folks, do you want to talk about the junk that we've gotten in PMs from mods over the years? Do you seriously think somehow the prospect that someone like Raven might actually tell someone seeking answers what she thinks would constitute a new low or even an unusual threat to the credibility of the site?

If the goal is to ensure that people seeking help get access to the right voice, as per the site, then a sound ministry team, composed of people with real qualifications, and a policy of referring folks to them is a sounds tep in that direction. With or without non-Christian mods. Beyond that, if someone would still like to speak to a non-Christian about their problems, mod or otherwise, then you have exactly what you have now.
I think that is a very good idea Brim.

I think there are bigger things in the balance than a single soul, but I don't think this is going to be the end-all factor in a ministerial approach to a single person.

Bigger things than a single soul?

What, pray tell, are they?

If it's one or the other I vote 2, but it can be both Christian & still outreach to the community as a whole.

Absolutely, as long as Christians remain on this board, there will be outreach! :)

For the record, I do not believe this is true. I do not believe that a single Christian has been swayed away from Christ because of the promotions of other religions here. Take from this what you wish. I do not believe it.

Just noting I support this as well; D'Ann, do you think this would address your concerns?

So, y'all really do not care that a soul is hanging in the balance here?

I guess y'all are right. This ISN'T the place for atheists afterall.

Is there a reason for this particular guilt trip?

Well, before you continue being snippy with me, I was just answering a question. Out of context, I suppose it may seem like an attack, but it wasn't. It was an explanation of why the word bigotry was being used in the context of this thread.
It was more than just answering a question.

You've noticed that the countercharge is resulting in attacking and banning Christians in a putatively Christian forum. The paradox is remarkable.

Let's apply the imagery you brought up. If we're intent on uniting Christians, well, the people thrown off that new bus so far are the people who read Paul -- and who can't quite make ourselves "white enough" to even get on that new bus.

What're your cohorts advising us to do? "Don't break that law, boy. Just back off. In fact just go away." Even non-Christian whitey, he can take the CF bus. Us, we're told to walk.

Many souls. Not every seeker is going to respond the same way to these changes. The ones who are honestly interested in becoming a Christian, but need a bit of a nudge (so to speak) are going to be poisoned by the placation they'll receive here.

Its probably already been said, and i've already posted this in the Teen Discussion, but this is how I feel.

It'll be a sad day if it goes back to being only for Christians.

How I see it is that this is not only a forum for Christians who need other Christians, but for others who want to talk to us and find out about our religion. Think about all those who have been converted, and all those who have had their faith reaffirmed. Even think about the non-Christians who came with misconceptions and stereotypes and now have neither.

It'll be a sad day indeed.

I am not going to read the whole thread...

My issues are two...

First....
I don't like the way the *options* are worded... especially #1 I believe it is misleading...

Second... this *vote* should have taken place BEFORE the shake up... at least that is my .02 on the subject...

I don't know if this has been asked already, but...

How are we going to determine a clear victory in the poll? I mean... right now we've got a 60-40 split here and that means that if either side won, there would be a substantial amount of people unhappy with this decision.

Should there be majority minimums applied to this poll? Or will this really come down to such divisions?
Good question.

One possible solution that has been proposed already is to run 2 sites, one that is open, another that is Christians-only, based on the same membership data.

It's entirely possible. The previous version of CF is very similar, with 2 sections, one open and one close. The aim of the new system was to establish something like that but with members agreeing to do it themselves, but it hasn't worked out over the past month.

The ultimate aim would be to keep the good things of the recent changes such as moderator transparency, and see if we can formalise the wiki usage a bit more in a way that is acceptable (the wiki collaborative process is still the best process to get consensus for rules and guidelines).

There is no question that CF has 2 large groups of membership together, and to be honest, that is fantastic, because not many sites on the Internet are able to bring these 2 groups of people together into a place for discussion.

It is possible that Option 1 and Option 2 can be combined together into a middle ground of Option 3 since this is what the poll is really showing us (and I had hoped that the current CF setup would have been the Option 3, since it has elements of both, but apparently not). So the question is, if that's the answer (and I'm not saying it is at this stage), what would Option 3 look like?

It's a question that's does not have an easy answer.

 with all due respect Concetta... I'm sure that a good moderator would refer such religious questions and/or prayer requests/issues to fellow Christian moderators right now today, but what about tomorrow? There is no guarantee that the future new non-Christian mods will also do this. Also, on the board where there are fellowship areas and non-Christian areas... I have had several non-Christians come to me and inquire about Christ and request prayers because they know that I'm a Christian. Many people all over the board are searching and thus, that is why we need Christian moderators on every forum, but I do like the idea that Just an observer suggested... assistant moderators.

well, not only this but i think as a Christian, when someone comes to you with a crisis of faith, etc. the Holy Spirit sets off all kinds of alarms in your spirit to help that person or pray for them. I know before i was a believer i didnt have that alarm system installed.. :p ;)
