  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Never heard of it!
The Patriarch of Moscow has some parishes in the United States that are still under his controll and not that of the OCA.

As for Prussia, it is this little state in eastern Germany that grew too big for it's own good over a 500 year timespan and gobbled up the rest of northern Germany in the formation of the German Empire. Prussians are very efficient and their military was notorious. They are pretty much the exact opposites of Bavarians who are very, very laid back. Thank God Prussia was declared outlaw and extinct in the period just after WWII.

Thanks for the history lesson.
We're thinking of taking a family trip to Germany. What do you suggest we do when we get there? Drink Beer?

Visit Bavaria while you are in Germany. It is the best part of Germany, that and the Rhineland. There is much to do there. Eat German food, drink German bier, see the beautiful towns, the castles, have a German take you for at spin at 120 mph on the autobahn...

My husband wants to be the driver on the autobahn!
He's having a 1983 Audi Quattro Coupe rebuilt with 800 hp. They had to put a roll bar in it for obvious safety reasons. He still has to wait about 2 more months before he can finally drive it. It will be one of a kind, so Audi wants to do a story on it in their magazine when it gets done.
Of course, we can't take that with us!

I rode as a passenger on the autobahn while there, at arround 120 mph and let me tell you it is a totally different experience than driving in America.

I like to be driven fast and I like to drive fast so I think that would be so awesome. By the way, if you don't hear from me for awhile, call my house or my priest and see if we are still alive. People drive so bad going to and from church on I 25 that I pray for our safety constantly. Kelly can't seem to drive slower than 100mph, although he is a good driver.

I just remembered that the electrician is coming tomorrow at 7:30 in the morning to put up light fixtures and we haven't bought them yet. We're off to Home Depot!
My favorite store. Atleast here in PA you can earn fuel perks for buying Home Depot gift cards.

Went to the Greek festival at the big cathedral in Norfolk yesterday. Has some Moussaka (sp?), and got a sampler of pastries, my favorite was the one that looks like a big piece of shredded wheat, only it tastes 10,0000000000 times better!!! It had honey in it.

Also picked up an Orthodox Study Bible, and even said evening prayers last night. I like the fact that this bible has the prayers in it, along with the daily scripture readings that I should do during my prayers. Awesome!

Good pick!

There are different versions and some have more or less info at the back (I have a hardcover and 2 of the paperbacks), the hardcover one has so much info it is great!!

Well we're from church. You guys in VA are so lucky that your Greek Festival is now. The Greek Cathedral in Denver always has their festival in June during the Apostles Fast and the Orthodox can't go and enjoy the food because we're all fasting. Isn't that a bummer!!!

Our festival is the very beginning of June, in fact the last three fast free days, I guess it is a good way to spend them! I have to hurry up and finish all my girl scout cookies (I had to save them since the mean little girls deliver them during lent!)

They suggested I use a grey primer under the terra cotta red. The room is going to look incredible when I am done with it.

Wow Michael, you're making great progress!

Anatole, how did your paint job work out. Was the graduation today?

What a good promotion, I wish they would do that in MA.

You buy the Home Depot gift cards at Giant Eagle who has a program which gives you 10 cents off per gallon of gas at Giant Eagle's "Get Go" stations for every $50 you spend.

Cassc- The painting was pretty fun at first, but we got tired of it when we kept seeing little specs of white and had to do a 3rd coat in all the rooms. It's really colorful in my basement now. My laundry room is bright yellow and were having 7 different bright colors of tile put on the floor in there sometime this week. It's probably going to play with my mind every time I do laundry!!!
Greg's graduation is June 2nd. The basement has taken up so much of our time that I still need to do a lot to get ready for his party.
I work better under pressure!!!
