If sales continue to not look so hot, I think they should release a system that does not play Blu-Ray movies (if that's possible), perhaps to bring the price down.

Sony wanted to sell to a high class market. Unfortunately the population of that class is much lower than the middle. I know I won't be getting a PS3. All the games I'd get for it, like the new Armored Core or Final Fantasy games, are coming for the 360.

Please show me where it was reported that the Final Fantasy games are coming to 360. I've seen NOTHING of the sort reported on any gaming websites. Not even rumors. I'd like to see it, because that could actually make me buy a 360 down the road.

Please note that "Square Enix" does not equal "Final Fantasy." Sensationalist reporting and nothing more.

Capcom has had many PS exclusives (Devil May Cry, Resident Evil, etc.), but when they make one game for X360 (Dead Rising), everyone says "holy cow capcom is ditching sony!!!!1!".

And for the record, MMOs are not Final Fantasies. FFXI was a stupid idea and alienated a vast portion of Square's fanbase.

Like it or not FFXI is *still* a Final Fantasy. Just as Mystic Quest is a Final Fantasy and Crystal Chronicles is a Final fantasy.

And unlike the latter two, it's actually an official Number.

That said, the two people they interviewed both worked on FF games. But since there's already an FF MMO, they're more likely to make a Dragon Quest MMO. Now that can actually be a far more important announcement than yet another FF MMO given the insane popularity of the DQ series in Japan.

Also Devil May Cry and Resident Evil are hardly exclusives. DMC3 is on the PC and RE4 is on Gamecube and the first game keeps getting ported on all sorts of stuff, even the DS.

FF is super big here, too. I'd say either game would be about equally important.

I saw a demo of the PS3 at EB Games and I have to say it was pretty amazing. I have NEVER seen graphics like that on ANY console.

Gears of War has better graphics than any of the PS3 games I've seen.

Of course, that will probably change eventually.

The technical prowess of the PS3 is undeniable. However, the price is NOT acceptable in the gaming world. You can get a PC for that price. Gaming consoles are supposed to be inexpensive GAME machines, not all-in-one gizmos. I really believe that is the reason that Nintendo's Wii has taken off the way it has, along with curiosity about the motion sensing controls.

Sorry. The PS3 has to come out with better games if Sony wants to impress me. They made so many promises for launch, but all we have now is "Resistance: Fall of Man". Not saying that it isn't a good game, (to be honest, I haven't played it) but even it being the best game on the PS3 for the time being, it still isn't a "Halo killer" per-say.

$600 for just that one game isn't going to cut it for me, not when I've already had a blast playing Wii-Sports.

The ps3 is untapped at the moment. It took a year to get 1 360 game to look that good. It just takes time for developers to tap the full potential of any system and it's always been that way. The ps3 is the best bang for the buck out there and I already broke that down in a different thread. There are some tiny issues that are being addressed by the updates (looking forward to 1.6). As for games, we've been lacking over the last 3 months but we've got 30+ titles coming in the next 2 months. Should keep you busy.

The one thing I think shows how low society is is that Sony won't let the porn industry use blu-ray but Samsung can still let them use it. I applaud sony for holding it's morals over profit but I feel bad that people are using so much porn that this move by sony has been seen as a 'bad idea'.

Very subjectively! It's only the best bang for your buck if you feel the need to have a blue ray player for the small handful of movies that it supports. I wouldn't be surprised if blue ray doesn't really take off anyway.

The fact remains that for the majority of gamers, the PS3 is not the best bang for the buck.

The Wii is no where near the level the PS3 and 360 are at. I know alot of people want it to be because it's selling, it's neat and cheap but it doesn't exactly define next-gen as easily as the other two systems. It's not always this way and I'm sure there are tons of stories out there, but a local guy on the car forums here got himself and his kids a Wii for Christmas. He had it for sale in January because he and his son were board with it. I was playing Wii sports at my friend Tommy's house last weekend and we got to talking about consoles and he said he felt the Wii was very kid oriented and he didn't think it would hold up very well in the long run with better and larger games that the two other systems could run.

HDTV is here, that is next-gen TV and a next-gen game system should be able to match the TV. Blu-ray is out selling HD-DVD despite it's head start in the market and more movies are being released in the blu-ray format than the HD-DVD every month. It may take just a bit longer to really lengthen the lead but it's doing it.

Then what was the point of the 360 over the x-box?

There's really no point in either. The endless cycle for better and better graphics is pretty stupid. All it does is increase development costs to ridiculous levels and that's why we're seeing the microtransactions and $60 games and endless chains of sequels. Nintendo's the only one who understood that.

If I really wanted graphics, I'd be spending it on the PC.
