  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I'm curious what everyone is taking to help enhance pregnancy...

I'm taking:
Metformin 750 MG
Natelle prenatal vitamin
Green Tea Herbal Supplement
and we just ordered some Pre-Seed!

I am taking Elevit . Apparently it is the only clinically proven supplement for new mums before, during and after pregnancy. "When taken before and in the early stages of pregnancy Elevit has been proven to reduce the risk of birth defects including those of the neural tube"(taken from the website)

So I'm not currently taking anything to aid conception.

Nothing to help conception. Not going to get frantic until I've been going for a year.

I've decided that after 3-6 months I'll start really charting my temp seriously and after a year I'll seek medical help.

But I'm praying that wont be the case

TTC Humor..

You know you're TTC when...

- the Big 'O' no longer refers to [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse], but instead to ovulation
- you show everyone who will look at your bbt charts - every twinge is a potential sign: ovulation pain OR perhaps implantation
- it no longer strikes you as the least bit odd to check out at the pharmacy with both HPTs and tampons in your cart.
- you schedule your social events around your ovulation day
- if your OPK comes up +, you cancel all social engagements that night so you can BD & lie with your legs elevated and butt up in the air afterwards
- you talk using mysterious acronymns that only your ttc buddies understand: ttc, BD, ewcm, bbt, opk, 2ww
- your morning motto is: "Don't talk to me until I've taken my temperature"
- you take your temperature more than once a day (committed TTCer)
- you refuse to finish decorating that 3rd bedroom in your new house, because you can't stand the thought of getting it just the way you want it only to have to tear it apart next month in order to make room for the nursery you'll be needing.
- you put off buying any fall/winter clothes, because you hope they won't fit by the time the weather gets cooler.
- you clip coupons for OPKs and HPTs
- your doctor says, "Now take these home and inject this needle into your stomach every day" and you don't even flinch.
- you spend more on OPKs, HPTs, and fertility supplements than you do on clothes
- the thought of nausea makes your heart skip a beat!
- you make a mental note of what day of your cycle it is before you say "ok" to a drink
- you get sick but make sure you can take the medicine in case you are pregnant...and would rather stay sick if you can't take the medicine..
- you finally look forward to mornings! Another opportunity to take and record your temp!
- you refer (and think) of your husband, not as his real name, but as the letters "DH" in real life
- you suffer silently from Infertility Vision (IV) - defined as the ability to see pink lines that nobody else can see. It's a very common condition among POASers during the days leading up to the official test day. Research is still being done, but at present there is no cure for it!

LOL!!

I just did on Friday. When I called today, they said that I definitely ovulated and my level was a 31 - have no idea what that number means.

well.. if your progesterone level is 31 that is good... anything under 15 is considered low...... i think healthy range is 15-90ish so you are great!

Not to put any pressure on you but I did want to suggest that getting exercise, eating well and taking a prenatal vitamin is probably a good idea. I know it seems weird and creepy to take a prenatal before you're preggo but they are chock full of good stuff (folic acid!) and low on the bad stuff (Vitamin A). It sort of helps 'prime' your body for baby making.

Absolutely. My doctor wanted me to be taking prenatals at least 3 months before trying. If anything, it makes your hair and nails healthy - makes them grow fast too.

I've been taking folic acid since shortly after getting married. I talked to my Dr and said that if something were to happen and we got pregnant by accident, I wanted my body to be prepared. At the time she saw no need for me to start taking a prenatal vitamin.

I am seeing her again tomorrow to talk about what I need to continue taking (in terms of my Lupus medication) and what I should stop. If she suggests a pre natal vitamin, I will start taking one. But I've always taken a regular multi vitamin and last we spoke she said that would be ok until I got preggers.

Well I eat an extremely balanced diet already, and although I am not running 5 miles a day like I was 6 months ago, I am still very active.

I've been taking Folic acid for almost a year now (just incase!) and my dr didn't see the need for me to be on a prenatal just yet. I see her tomorrow and we will revisit the issue then.

I think women who are pregnant need more of certain vitamins than what is recommended - including folic acid. Prenatals contain a much larger dose of folic acid than what you can get in front of the counter - in fact, I believe that's why they are prescription only. The prenatals you get in front of the counter don't have as much folic acid, as what is recommended for pregnant women. Why the amount of folic acid would keep it prescription, I don't know. I'll have to ask my husband that one, but I do remember him saying that was what kept it prescription only. The amount of iron might be another factor, I don't know. My doctor writes me 18 months worth at a time. I've been taking them for years and have noticed a positive marked difference in my health.

I'll know more when I see my dr tomorrow. When I talked to her about 10 months ago, and expressed concerns about getting pregnant, she suggesed a certain MG dose of folic acid (which is what I am taking now). She said that is what I would need incase any "oops" occured. I trust her on that. Also the pre pregnancy planner that I am reading now states that what I am taking in terms of folic acid is fine. I trust my dr.

When I see her tomorrow if she feels the need to put me on a higher dose and a prenatal, I will do so. Please do not make me feel guilty for following my Dr's advice :)

I'm not at all. Everyone has different information to bring to the table. That's all I'm doing - sharing what information I have. I've learned a lot from other people here who are handling things differently from me, from the information they have shared. I might not do the same thing they are doing, but I'm an information hog, so I still eat it up. That's all my intent here - sorry if it made you uncomfortable.

I found that the people here are not judgmental at all about whatever you choose to do. However, if someone has information about a subject that might be different than what you have shared, they are going to share it. It's not being judgmental, it's just sharing information.
