“You have not heard, you have not known.
Even from long ago your ear has not been open,
Because I knew that you would deal very treacherously;
And you have been called a rebel from birth.
For the sake of My name I delay My wrath,
And for My praise I restrain it for you,
In order not to cut you off.
Behold, I have refined you, but not as silver;
I have tested you in the furnace of affliction.
For My own sake, for My own sake, I will act;
For how can My name be profaned?
And My glory I will not give to another.” (Isaiah 48:8-11 NASB1995)
Translated to the New Testament and the New Covenant we have with God via faith in Jesus Christ, based off this entire chapter, this is speaking of people today who profess faith in Jesus Christ, who believe they are God’s children, that all their sins are forgiven, and that heaven is their eternal destiny. But their professions of faith are not in truth nor in righteousness. For they are an obstinate people who cling to the sins of the flesh and who do not honor God with their lives in walks of obedience to his commands.
Although they profess faith in Jesus Christ, and they claim themselves to be Christians, to be God’s children, there is no holiness and godliness in their lives, for they are still living according to the flesh, and not according to the Spirit. Their professions of faith are not sincere, for they are not listening to the Lord and to what his word teaches, but they are charting their own course, and going their own way. For they are a perverse, hardened, and insensible people, prone to disregard God and his commandments.
God knows who profess the name of Jesus, but not in truth, who deal treacherously (deceitfully, unfaithfully, and underhandedly), and who have been rebels from birth. He knows who are the “chameleons,” in character, who change their behaviors, opinions, beliefs, and appearances to fit with different social situations or groups, particularly for manipulative gain. They are the double-minded people who think, believe, and behave differently depending upon who they are with or to exploit others for selfish purposes.
Some of these people are young, some are middle-aged, and others are the elderly who are still continuing on the same sinful patterns as they have always followed, even knowing the truth of what the Scriptures teach, and even while claiming faith in Jesus and heaven as their eternal destiny. They are the manipulative and the deceptive, in practice, whose words cannot be trusted. And so far God has delayed his wrath, for he is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. But one day…
One day we are all going to have to stand before our Lord in judgment and to give an account of what we did with God and with his Word and with our lives. Many will call Jesus, “Lord,” and will claim all they believe that they did in his name, but which was of the flesh, and not of God. And he will say to them, “I never knew you. Depart from me you workers of lawlessness,” because they continued in their deliberate and habitual sin, and because they did not honor God by walking in obedience to his commands.
So, please be aware that a profession of faith in Jesus alone will not grant us salvation from sin and secure us a place in heaven. We must deny self, die to sin daily, and follow Jesus in obedience to his commands in holy living or we will not see God, and we will not inherit eternal life with God. Believe this!

When I lift up my voice, and
Sing praise unto God,
I will fellowship with my
Lord and Savior, King.
In Him there is no darkness.
He is in the light of truth.
If we walk in His light,
From sin He purifies.
If we repent of our sins,
He’ll forgive us now,
When we humble ourselves, and
Before Jesus bow.
The man who says, “I know Him,”
But does not obey His truth,
There is no truth in him.
In darkness still he’s found.
Do not love the world of sin,
For it is hell bound.
If you follow the world, you’ll
Not in Christ be found.
The world and its desires
Will not last; they’ll expire.
The one who does God’s will,
Receives eternal life.
See that what you have heard from
Christ remains in you.
Then, you’ll remain in Christ, and
In His Father, too.
This is what He promised us –
His eternal life with God.
So, continue in Him, and
You’ll receive a crown.
