Many early Christians thought that the Kingdom of God might actually be realized in their time, in the here and now, in a sense looking for the same worldly king/saviour that the Jews had expected. Paul was the best example of who was sure it would be any day, which led many to believe he was a failed prophet of his day, requiring theology to scramble accordingly. These folks were looking for an earthly kingdom and ruler. They didn't see a need for first doing this on their own without Jesus. They passed the buck to a Saviour.and in typical human form, refused to take responsibility for their own actions.
Jesus said to be one with the Father, to do only His will thus acting in servitude to each other. Know who you are. By actually doing what we were told to do showed worthiness in not only following the will of the Father, but in showing we were the material for the coming Kingdom where only God's will would rule and man would once again act in servitude to all, both God and fellow man. This is what Jesus taught while Christianity later was built upon the principle of believe in the Being but never mind doing what He said in order to serve our kingdoms first.
The focus is not on this world. Until people realize the universe is perfect already and mankind once again realizes we are not separated from it, then there will be progress. It is we alone that have separated ourselves from a perfect system to focus on ourselves. We split the system in two with our knowledge, while in reality both are needed to work as one. The universe is not fallen, human flesh is not fallen, but our thinking is. T'is why Jesus said repent/change. Quit focusing on self. Get our acts together and focus on harmony with creation. Don't get hung up on good and evil. We only at present self-determine which is which anyway, so nothing ever changes for the better.
