What is our job?

Jim Jones, Enlightened Ones, December 2012, and on and on. The conversations are endless and daily. The world is becoming more violent and corrupt. Weather changes create more questions about "the end", but are the questions we are asking the right ones? When Jesus left He commissioned His disciples to go and teach all nations. I don't see anywhere where He said now focus on when I will return, or huddle together in little communities so you can shut out the bad people and pray that He returns to get us. For too many the commission has been lost and replaced with sheer survival or sharing our thoughts with the select few that agrees with us.
Growing a garden takes work. Planting is fairly simple, and watering is too, but the real work comes at harvest. Some foods come up easily others you may have work around thorns or stickers, or dig deep to retrieve the prize. If in fact we believe that the fields are ripe with harvest then now is the time to step up and bring as many with us as possible to Jesus. We will not find them in the pew next to us on Sunday morning but they may be in the alley next to it.
I am here to say I am no saint who has it all together. I miss opportunities everyday to share Jesus. My hope is to find the strength and courage to change. To share the freedom and peace and love that Jesus has given to me with my neighbor, waitress,stranger. May God bless you all....
