WHAT IF?
Have you ever been afraid to speak a kind word to someone, send them a gift or call them on the phone to see how their day is going because they might think you're weird for doing it for no reason?
Have you ever avoided a person or people or hoped that they didn't see you, afraid that you'll "say something stupid" and they'd laugh at you or make fun of you?
Have you ever decided not to share your gifts or talents with someone because they might find fault with them?
When these fears come against us, the question that's really being posed can be summed up in two words, "What if"? "WHAT IF I do these things and "this" ends up happening"?
If all of the above fears came to pass, they can't change who we are as people unless WE let them and if we do choose to reach out to someone and they don't receive it or make a joke out of it, it's because they too are afraid to be rejected, but that does not mean the next person we reach out to will do the same thing. In fact, the next person we do it for may need it more than we'll ever know.
Words have power, they can build someone up or tear them down, they can encourage someone or discourage them so can the unspoken words of our actions. How will you use yours today?
2 Timothy 1:7
For God did not give us a spirit of timidity (of cowardice, of craven and cringing and fawning fear), but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of calm and well-balanced mind.
