What Have I To Lose?

“Dinner is on the kitchen floor
Soiled dishes fill the sink
I just can’t manage anymore
Through strain I fail to think

This life’s too much for me to bear
I’m at a total loss
I need someone to help me share
The burden of my cross

With just a book you’ve come to me?
You see me in this state?
You say your Lord can set me free
Well friend, I just can’t wait

What chance have I to change my life?
This lot I’ve learned to dread
I’ve tried to end it with a knife
I’ve often wished me dead

With no success as you can see
It always ends the same
Yet Christ you say can set me free
We’ll friend I’m glad you came

I’ve heard the way of God you speak
How close He seems to you
It gives me hope that I may seek
My personal Saviour too

I feel at ease to speak with you
You say it’s not a lie
If half you say of Christ is true
Thank God I failed to die

In Christ there’s hope a brand new start
I’m pleased you brought the news
Of course I’ll ask Him in my heart
What else have I to lose?”
