This weekend again I started to question - Does God give up on people? - I don't like to ask that question because maybe I don't wanna hear the answer.
Romans 8:38-39 - is a verse that I go to to examine God's love. To see what it is that holds me secure in his salvation. It's not my saving hold that keeps my secure, it's God's love and Grace alone that holds me secure.
Death can't separate us, the angels and demons can't separate us. There is nothing high that can separate me from God's love - There is nothing deep that can separate me from his love. There is nothing in all of creation that can separate me from God's love. The question begins there, does that include myself? Does that mean that there is nothing that I can do that can separate me from God's love?
I think when it comes down to it, we can even begin to understand God's infinite love. How do we measure God's love? How do we measure the love that he laid there for us on the cross?
So what is the answer to my question? Does God give up on people? I think there are certain circumstances that someone can go too far ignoring the Holy Spirit and his prodding, but deep down I don't think that someone is completely given up on. If that person rejects the Holy Spirit and his prodding then their heart may become cold and distant and never be interested in knowing that love - but IF somewhere down the road they truly felt something in their heart and they wanted to know more - would God completely say it's too late?
For those that are walking with God or struggling in their walk with God - Keep going - be broken before God and totally lean on the reality that God's love is higher and deeper and bigger than we could ever imagine.
